Music has over 25 ensembles,
including three wind bands, two
orchestras, eight vocal ensembles, three jazz big bands, and
numerous chamber ensembles.

across the world, and the program at Ithaca
College was my first choice.
MY EXPERIENCE AT ITHACA: My professors
have made my experience amazing. They are
my friends and mentors. I’ve never been a
part of such a great learning environment.

Ithaca are very friendly! You’ll feel at home

WHY I CHOSE ITHACA: I chose to attend
Ithaca because my saxophone professor is a
world-renowned teacher. The School of Music
also has a great reputation, the facilities are
state-of-the-art, and the view is spectacular.

KNOW ABOUT ITHACA: Ithaca College was
founded as a conservatory in 1892 and has
consistently been ranked as one of the top
schools in the United States.

WHY I CHOSE ITHACA: After I
auditioned for the program, I stayed
after to speak with the faculty and listen
to the ensembles. I was impressed
and knew that Ithaca was the school I
wanted to attend.
MY EXPERIENCE AT ITHACA: I have
had numerous opportunities to
conduct, including three orchestras,
orchestral and woodwind reading
sessions, and new works from
composition students. The history
and theory courses are also very
strong, which has helped me with
my conducting.

OUTCOMES
Ithaca graduates pursue careers in
professional performance, K–12 teaching,
higher education, Suzuki pedagogy, and as
professional conductors and composers.
Many of our students continue their studies
at some of the top graduate and doctoral
institutions in the country.
Our alumni are currently teaching in
public schools across the country and
in prominent music schools including
Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School
of Music, Harvard University, Boston
Conservatory, Boston University,
University of Michigan, New England
Conservatory of Music, and Northwestern
University. In addition, graduates
have gone on to pursue successful
performance careers with the Baltimore
Symphony, Boston Symphony Orchestra,
Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra,
Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan
Opera, National Symphony, New York
Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, St.

After completing a regional international audition, students must apply
to Ithaca College. To begin your application, please visit our website:
ithaca.edu/admissions
Depending on the strength of the audition and the needs of the School of Music,
applicants may be required to submit additional audition materials, such as a
supplemental audition recording, or perform an audition at Ithaca during an oncampus audition day. Sound recording technology, jazz, and composition applicants
must visit Ithaca College for a live interview. Composition applicants are not required
to perform an instrumental audition.
