Dear Barrow Hill…

Friday 11th November
Kat’s class are worthy winners of this
week’s Proudest Class Award for
lining up and moving around the
school. This week’s award was
judged by Richard: Next week Greg
is looking for the most respectful
class of the week.
Golden Tickets awarded to:
Lizzie in 6R was awarded a Golden Ticket
this week for being a great role model and
an outstanding member of the Sayer’s Croft
team. The trip was a real success for Year 6.
Well done, Lizzie!
¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español!
Angela writes: Barrow Hill pupils are certainly
keen language learners and enthusiasm has
been high in Spanish classes so far! I have been
very impressed with the rate at which
vocabulary is being learned and put into
practice: pupils were having conversations
already by the end of Term 1! Last term we
began with the language of meeting and
greeting before moving on to numbers. This term
we will be learning about animals, colours and
adjectives. I’ve been very happy to hear that
many pupils are practising at home with older
siblings. Here is some key vocabulary from last
term (see next page) if you’d like to have a go
too! Plus there are many websites to visit to
practise and to play games, including:

I use our school budget to pay for three teachers in
every year group instead of two. Only two schools
in Westminster do this. It means your child is taught
in much smaller Maths and English Groups. This is
why our standards are high.
WINTER FAIR 2016
Saturday 3rd
December 1-4pm
Grotto, games,
food, bric-a-brac,
tombola, lots of fun
for all families –
please join us!
BUT: it means I need to raise funds for other
essentials: books, computers, whiteboards, trips.
These make a huge difference to your child’s
education. Our Winter Fair pays for this.
This year I need every family to help.
Please volunteer for an hour or two on the day, or
in helping prepare. Please let Audrey know you
can help. Thank you - David

Did you know? Each Classroom in Barrow Hill has a Learning Lounge with six computers, two
sofas, Award winning books and a weekly delivery of both First News and The Week Junior ! Each
week our assemblies link current news and issues to the school ethos: Trust, Respect and Fairness.
We use CBBC Newsround for many clips. Ask Years 5 and 6 about last term’s assemblies which
looked at Resilience and the Paralympics ‘Yes I can’ campaign…
The last day of term is

finish at 2pm
