Bullets can also be turned off by pressing Enter twice. Bullets can be removed by selecting bulleted text and clicking on the Bullets button. Options can be changed by clicking on the of the Bullets button . You can choose from predefined bullet styles in the Bullet Library. When options are changed, they will remain as the default for the Bullets tool until changed again. After a bullet style is selected, options can be changed. Bullet character By clicking on the of the Bullets button selecting Define New Bullet. and Bullet and text position By right clicking and selecting Adjust List Indents. SECTION 2 37 Numbering One-level numbering can be turned on and off using the Numbering button on the Home tab. Numbering can also be turned off by pressing Enter twice. If options need to be changed, this is done clicking on the of the Numbering button . You can choose from nine predefined numbering styles. When options are changed they remain as the default until changed again. After a numbering style is selected, numbering options can be changed by clicking Define New Number Format. (Word 2007 automatically indents numbers 0.63 cm and includes a full stop.) Define New Number Format Number style: Click on the required. and select the style of numbering Font Select the font required. Number format: Type the number format required in the text box. Alignment: Left - Choose from Left, Center or Right to align the number. Aligned at: - Amount of space between the left margin and the number. Preview The selected option will preview in the Preview area. 38 SECTION 2 Exercise 41 ¾ Type the following using bullets. Hints on Pastry Making Pastry should be kept cool and handled as little as possible. Always chop in the fat (shortening), using two knives. Pastry is mixed to a stiff dough with a little very cold water. A little lemon juice added to the water before mixing improves the pastry. When rolling the pastry, dust the board and rolling pin lightly with flour and roll with short, light strokes. Pastry requires a very hot oven. The richer the pastry the hotter the oven. Exercise 42 ¾ Insert numbers as appropriate for the following Flaky Pastry instructions. Note You can use Alt 172 for ¼ and Alt 248 for °. Flaky Pastry 225g Flour ¼ teaspoon Salt 175g Butter 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice Sufficient cold water to mix to a very stiff dough Sift flour and salt. Chop in the fat with two knives. Add the water and lemon juice gradually, mixing to a stiff dough. Roll out at 5 mm thick, keeping ends square and sides even. Fold the pastry by bringing the side edges to the middle, then the top and bottom edges to the middle; fold in half and press the edges together. When rolling out the next time, give the pastry a half turn. Roll out and repeat folding process. Allow pastry to stand (covered) in a cold place for at least an hour before using. Bake at 230°C (450°F) for about 10 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 450g (16 ozs) pastry. SECTION 2 39 Multilevel Lists Clicking on the Multilevel List button on the Home tab is used for inserting bullets and/or numbers at different levels. A number of predefined outline styles are available or you can define your own. Levels are indicated by indents. Exercise 43 1 Create a new document. 2 Type the heading shown below and format as indicated. 3 Select Arial 12 pt. Type the first paragraph. 4 Continue with step 5 underneath the exercise. 22 (You may wish to type answers to the questions in a new document when you have finished typing this exercise.) Word 2007 Revision Arial 16 pt, bold In a new document type answers to the following questions, which relate to features you have learnt so far in Word 2007. 1) Every document created in Word 2007 has a template attached to it. What is this template called and explain the use of templates? You may wish to use the Help feature to assist you. Remember you can click in the Type a question for help box, type your question, then press Enter. 2) The Font dialog box can be accessed from the menu bar, from the right mouse button or by pressing Ctrl D. Answer the following questions regarding fonts: a) ([SODLQWKHWHUP§7UXH7\SH¨IRQWVDQGKRZ\RXZRXOGUHFRJQLVH7UXe Type fonts and printer fonts in Word 2007. b) :KDWLVWKH§KLGGHQWH[W¨RSWLRQXVHGIRU" c) The Format Painter button is used to copy formatting . Explain the two ways that this button is used. 3) Ctrl T will indent to the first tab stop. Explain other ways you can indent text in Word 2007. You will find that the additional exercises, and revision sheets at the end of each section will consolidate your knowledge of Word 2007. 5 Press Enter. 6 Click on the Multilevel List button 7 Click on the numbering option shown on the next page. 40 SECTION 2 . Click on this option to select. 8 Click on OK. The first number will be inserted into the document. 9 Type the paragraph then press Enter. 10 To skip numbering for the next paragraph: a Click on the Numbering button . b Click on the Increase Indent button c Type the paragraph then press Enter. . 11 To start numbering again: a Click on the Numbering button . b Click on the Decrease Indent button c Type the paragraph then press Enter. . 12 To demote the numbering (to level two) click on the Increase Indent button Shift OR select from the shortcut menu. , OR press Alt 13 Type paragraphs as shown for a), b) and c) on the previous page. Press Enter after each paragraph. 14 To promote the numbering (back to level one) click on the Decrease Indent button press Alt Shift OR select from the shortcut menu. OR 15 Type the text for paragraph 3) then press Enter. 16 Click on the Numbering button to turn off numbering. 17 Type the last paragraph, then save with an appropriate file name. 18 Print the document and close.
