Idea for a focus question: “What does apartheid mean in Canada?” Formal could be a panel with breakout sessions. It would be good to explore the whole concept of apartheid but what would be our focus? What are we taking away and hope to achieve from our session of apartheid? Make this event student friendly Have finger foods that relate to the culture of Africa and Aboriginal peoples. Ask faculty members in history or political science who are quite knowledgeable on apartheid Have some visuals or video clips of Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King Visuals are very powerful and more stimulating There is a South African community in the valley and maybe we could ask them for some information What will we take away from this? How can we address this powerful takeaway?
