Nutcracker Party Girls THE Parents’ Style Guide Congratulations! Your daughter has two roles in The Nutcracker! Here’s how to dress her up so she’ll be ready for both of them: HAIR: She will need lots of curls. Order them here ASAP: http://www.wildcatwigs.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=565. [Note: Following the performance, please keep your curls in a safe place (e.g., do not use them for dress-up). Your child will need to use them again in future performances of The Nutcracker.] Your daughter must wear a half-ponytail on top of her head, using the top layers of her hair only. The bottom layers of her hair should lay flat against her head with pins or clips. Watch the video for preparing the front of your child’s hair, plus the video for creating the Party Girls’ hair here: http://www.rsbdance.com/nutcracker_hair. Your daughter should arrive at the performance with her hair already in a properly positioned ponytail (per the videos) and with lots of bobby pins and hairspray in case anything comes loose. MAKEUP: Your Party Girl must wear specifically designed stage makeup, the same kind of makeup she would normally wear when performing on stage with us. Stage makeup includes: foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, powder, blush and true red lipstick. Your daughter should arrive at the performance with her makeup already applied (per the videos) — except for lipstick. A backstage mom will apply her lipstick on her AFTER costumes have been put on. Be sure to pack your daughter’s makeup in her performance bag. Watch the videos about the makeup supplies you need and how to apply stage makeup here: http://www.rsbdance.com/nutcracker_hair. ATTIRE: Your party girl must wear a silky black camisole leotard with no underwear underneath. She must wear clean, pink leather ballet shoes with the laces trimmed and a single pink elastic strap across the center of her foot. She must wear a new, clean pair of these specific pink ballet tights: “Prima Soft Convertible Seamed Tights in Ballet Pink; Style 100”. Bring an extra pair of the above tights to the performance, “just in case”.
