Recap of Palmetto WID’s Fall Major Events
VA Medical Center & Military Woman of the Year
We were honored with guests from the Ralph H. Johnson VA
Medical Center and the Charleston RiverDogs. With the support
from the RiverDogs, Palmetto WID was proud to present a check for
$2,920.00 to the VA Center from a fundraiser held at the ballpark this
past summer. A special introduction was made where as Palmetto
WID proudly introduced our 2011 Military Woman of the Year,
MSgt Amanda G. Lynch, USAF, B Flight Chief/Jet Engine
Instructor, 373d TRS Det 5, Joint Base Charleston. Amanda was
nominated by her superior and was selected from a field of 17 very
worth nominees! She received her very own special edition Palmetto
WID/RiverDogs camo jersey autographed by the entire RiverDogs
team from Harold Craw of the RiverDogs. Thank you Harold!
Harold Craw and Amanda Lynch
SpeedNet
Palmetto WID hosted another SpeedNet session on Friday, October
21, 2011. The hour spent in a SPEEDNET session yielded up to 15
contacts per person and possible new opportunities for all. Palmetto
WID had a great turnout for this popular luncheon, as it followed the
prior day’s CDCA SBIOI Symposium. We will have another speed
networking session in 2012.
Veteran’s Salute
Palmetto WID was proud to be featured as a supporter at the CDCA
5th annual C5ISR conference Nov. 14-17. We followed the event by
featuring a “Veteran’s Salute,” at our monthly luncheon honoring a
panel of active, former/retired military representing each of the
branch of the armed forces.
Mary Graves and SSgt Tiffany Martin
The speakers were: COL Judith Hughes, 628th Medical Group
(USAF), LTC Tracey Williams, 841ST Transportation Battalion
(ARMY), CWO4 Lori Palmer, CG Sector Charleston (Coast Guard),
SSgt Tiffany Martin, The Citadel (USMC), ETC Christina Biagetti,

Attendees enjoyed each speaker’s recount of why they joined their
respective branch along with the anecdotal insights to their service.

Meet the New 2012 Leadership Team
The Women in Defense-Palmetto Chapter has many opportunities for you to serve in an area in which you
already shine, or to expand your knowledge in a whole new arena. Our Leadership is made up of the four
elected officials (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) and at least nine Chairperson and CoChairpersons, who all work together to keep our WID chapter active in the ‘advancement and recognition of
women in all aspects of national security.’ Please visit our website and fill out a short survey where you can let
us know those areas where you might like to help, either as a Chair or as a committee member. This is not a
commitment on your part, but an acknowledgement that you may be willing to serve in an area, which interests
you. All are welcome!
