Whether over a window or over the gateway to your garden
or to mark the entrance to your garage they can present an
opportunity for providing a pleasing landscape feature.
Now at Bovingdon we can provide you with pre-formed arches
to make their assembly easier whilst still providing you with a
beautiful outcome. We take great care to make them so that they
accurately reflect the brickworks in the rest of your building.
Technology
Bovingdon arches are precision made.
They incorporate Computer Aided Design to ensure that the
dimensions of any arch are precise. The bricks used can be an
exact replica of the square bricks that you have used in other
parts of the building, or a contrast both in terms of colour and
texture or indeed any brick you care to specify including those
from other manufacturers.
You will therefore be able to combine the aesthetic values of an
arch and Bovingdon bricks in a process designed to make the
installation of arches as simple and efficient as possible.

We provide three
different styles of arch:
The lightweight arch is pre-formed and made with
slips of real Bovingdon bricks, but designed to be light in
weight to make both installation and costs as simple and
low as possible.
The solid arch is designed with its own built-in loadbearing steel lintel to provide a sturdy and strong support.
The loose arch for which we provide the pre-cut bricks
to your design, for the arch to be built on site by professional
brick-layers.
Each of these Bovingdon arches has the full benefit that our
beautiful bricks with their vibrant colours and characteristic
texture, made by craftsmen, bring to any building.

The choice of arch is based upon a
number of considerations – the function
and shape of the arch, planning permission
and brick colour. We suggest that in the
first instance you should discuss the first
two of these simultaneously – what is the
arch for and will it meet with local planning
requirements. Then you will be able to
consider the decorative role you want the
arch to play – to accentuate brickwork, to
contrast with brickwork or merely to fade
into the surrounding brickwork.

We have developed a high quality, pre-formed,
lightweight, non-structural arch system that is
especially suitable for Bovingdon’s range of bricks.
In situations in which more support for the
external masonry is required we have developed
the pre-formed solid arch.
As its name implies, this is an arch that gives
you the flexibility to design your own arch.
A customer’s choice of arch is accurately designed, the bricks
slips are cut and bonded to a lightweight unit and delivered to site
ready for installation with your steel lintel. Nothing could be easier
– turnaround is fast.
This is available in flat and segmental formats. It is used where
a large sofit reveal is required, for instance at a window head.
Square bricks are used and bonded to a steel load-bearing lintel.
It is delivered to site ready to install.

This arch comes as a collection of bricks, specified for your
design. It can be used for almost any arch shape. All you need
is a qualified bricklayer to assemble it. We use Computer Aided
Design to produce cutting drawings for accurate production.
