Shiverpool Historical City Ghostwalks
Liverpool’s most famous and reputable ghost tour, exploring
some of the city’s famous locations and hidden histories.
Shiverpool bring historically researched theatrical
performances to the city streets by the famous
“Shiverghouls”. Shiverpool Ltd has achieved it’s goal of
becoming a top tourist attraction in Liverpool and all
of it’s tours to date have become a talking sensation
amongst the thousands of residents and tourists who
have experienced them. The company operates
three city centre tours, all of which explore some
of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks and locations.
During this one-hour spectacle, the guide brings to the
surface some of the more hidden and sinister aspects
of Liverpool’s history and culture.
Hope Street Shivers
Auld City Shivers:
The beginning
01
Key highlights include:
Hope Street Shivers
The Tour begins outside Liverpool’s Philharmonic Pub
on Hope Street. Hope Street connects Liverpool’s two
famous cathedrals and is a must see for any visitor to
the city. During the one hour theatrical guided tour
you will visit both of these iconic buildings. The route
of the Hope Street Shivers Tour has been carefully
chosen to include breathtaking locations steeped in
fascinating history.
Along the route we pass the famous Everyman Theatre
which played home to the likes of Jonathan Price, Julie
Walters and Pete Postlethwaite who all began their
illustrious careers at this much loved venue. Your tour
takes you around the Rodney Street Conservation
Area where William Gladstone (four times Prime
Minister of Britain) lived, who was Britain’s Prime
Minister four times and William Roscoe, the great
slavery abolitionist. Listen and be captivated by the
re-enactment of Liverpool’s most famous ghost story
and visit the deceased’s mysterious pyramidal tomb.
See the building where John Lennon lived for three
years and where Hitler’s brother hid to avoid
conscription, before the tour takes a downwards
slope towards the Gothic Anglican Cathedral cemetery,
your final destination. Hear about the black plague,
great American sea captains and one last chilling tale.
After your tour is complete our guides can escort you
to your next location.

Auld City Shivers:
The beginning
The magnificent Queen Victoria monument where
Liverpool’s castle once stood in the 13th century is
the meeting location for The Auld City Tour. Hear of
the oldest tales, buildings and secret streets of
Liverpool’s Auld City. Learn of the Napoleonic wars
and the screams of French prisoners, see for yourself
what inspired Herman Melville, the author of Moby
Dick to write about the port of Liverpool and then
stand in the very place of America’s secret head
quarters during the civil war. Listen to the tales of
plague, cholera and the filthy slums that so many
poor souls found to be their final resting place.
Listen to the North West’s oldest ghost story and then
complete your adventure of The Auld City in a location
40 feet below the ground, in the very underbelly of
old Liverpool itself. Let Shiverpool guide you through
the maze of vaults in the old Midland bank and listen
to tales of intrigue and greed. This location has a
fascinating but dark history.
If you survive you are minutes away from Mathew
Street where the famous Beatles started their careers
and a short stroll away from Liverpool One shopping
centre and excellent transport connections.
This tour comes with a warning and you are required
to sign a disclaimer before the tour begins. It is also
important that you wear sensible footwear. The end
location as mentioned above goes 40 feet below the
ground and the steps are old, a little worn down and
can be steep. There are narrow passageways, and
strobe lighting.

Shiverpool recommends;
Hen & Stag Frights
Hen frights
Stag frights
Themed tours for Hen Night parties and our guides.
The corpse bride and groom, are always a great hit.
For an extra treat we also issue the bride to be with
a bottle of bubbly, which is always good to calm the
nerves after our spectacular Hen Frights!
Book your mate and the stags on this journey and
watch the chosen victim quibble with fear as his fate
unfolds. Great opportunity for photos and you can all go
back proud with the proof that you all did something
cultural. Just a pity the stag won’t make it back...

Things you need to know and
frequently asked questions...
Can you just turn up to the beginning
of the tour?
No, you MUST book your tour before the tour begins,
either by phone or on the website. Your name will be
on a booking form and will be checked by the guides
before the beginning of your tour.
What times are the tours?
Please contact us to find out as this can sometimes
change.
How long do the tours last for?
Each tour lasts for approximately one hour, however
digging a grave and burying you and your group could
make up to 4 hours depending on the time of year,
location and size of the group.
Will my body be disposed of with a Christian
blessing?
We try to accommodate all of our customers’
requests and religious preferences, however we
cannot guarantee this for all, as it is entirely
dependent on the mood of your Spirit Guide.
Can we come dressed up?
It’s not essential but adds to the fun!
What should I wear when on the tour?
We highly recommend you wear something you’d
be buried in. Please wear comfortable shoes.
How to book:
Send us an email, call or visit our website.
Do your tours cater for special needs?
At Shiverpool we firmly believe that ‘where there’s
a will, there’s certainly been a death’ and we also
believe in making our tours accessible for all visitors
with special needs. Due to tight bends and steep stairs
on some locations’ there may be a need for extra
assistance, which Shiverpool is only too happy to
provide. The best thing to do is to give us a call or
email us the tour you wish to go on and a description
of your specific requirements, and we shall make
arrangements for you.

“I was that scared I couldn’t stick around for the end bit!”
Pete Price. Radio City DJ
“I am delighted to report that our visitors from Israel and Germany were thrilled
with their ghost tour evening, as were our two locals from Liverpool! It has been
the talk of the office today - let us hope that it will bring you more bookings.”
Best regards Liz Murphy from Liverpool, pleased with her corporate hospitality.
“I just wanted to say how fantastic the tour was last Friday night.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I know the rest of the group did as well. I’ve
always wanted to come on the tour but never got round to it. I’m so glad now that I have!
The guides we had wore really cool costumes and knew how to build atmosphere and there was
a lot of banter between us and them. I would really recommend this to anyone - but it’s not
for the faint hearted! I won’t give it away but the ending was chilling! Fabulous!!”
Chris Lowry, Chair - Urban Strawberry Lunch Trustee Board
