Lesson 19: “Final Assessment”

Time: 30-50 minutes
II.
Materials:
a. Handout “Water Unit Test”
b. Handout “Periodic Table of the Elements” – from previous lesson
III.
Objectives:
It is the goal of this assessment to evaluate applicable objectives and state objectives from the lessons in this
unit within the scope of a formal, summative, written exam.
IV.
Lesson:
a. Opening:
i. Announce to the students that today marks the final day of the water unit.
b. Development:
i. Instruct students to clear their desks and have a writing utensil ready and their Periodic Table
of the Elements handout out.
ii. Pass out the handout “Water Unit Test”
c. Closing:
i. Collect the test from the students.

Suggested Assessments:
a. Today’s lesson marks the end of the unit and the students will be doing a summative assessment.

a. It will be appropriate to assess the students based on the results of today’s summative assessment as
well as various laboratory work and other formative projects during the course of this unit in
calculating their grade.
b. Please note that this assessment is a suggestion. It may be better to use your own as part of a larger
unit or to use state or county tests.
