Do Not Compost dog waste; it’s not fertilizer. Critical Health Issues Related to Pet Waste: Pet waste is a health risk to people, especially children. Pet waste is full of bacteria that can make people sick. If it's washed into storm drains and ends up in a lake, stream or Puget Sound, the bacteria can end up in shellfish. People who eat those shellfish or drink contaminated water can get very sick. Pet waste contains Roundworms, E.coli, Giardia and many other microorganisms that can be transmitted to humans. Some of these organisms can survive in the soil for years. Children who play in the yard and adults who garden are most at risk of infection. www.piercecountywa.org/petwaste Off Leash Areas Gig Harbor & Regional Area produced by: and PenMet Parks 10123—78th Ave NW Gig Harbor, WA 98332 P.O.
