Height extensions Basic Operating Instructions Number of boxes in lot ________________ ________________ INFORMATION YOU MUST TAKE HEED OF THE GATE UNITS THAT THE HEIGHT EXTENSIONS FIT TO ARE STANDARD 2.3 (SINGLE) OR 4.6 DOUBLE GATES. THE HEIGHT EXTENSIONS CANNOT BE USED WITH THE WIDTH EXTENSIONS WHAT YOUR DELIVERY CONTAINS AND WHERE TO LOOK FOR WHAT The package contains 4 lengths of 10mm carbon fibre rod partially assembled with 25mm x 4 mm flat carbon fibre “diagonal “ struts. The struts are colour coded as follows:Yellow = Left Hand Gate Upper Extension Red = Left Hand Gate Lower Extension Blue = Right Hand Gate Upper Extension Green = Right Hand Gate Lower Extension NOTE: LEFT HAND GATE CLOSES TO THE LEFT AS YOU ARE FACING THE CABINET DOOR, RIGHT HAND CLOSES TO THE RIGHT AS YOU FACE THE CABINET DOOR. 1 The box also contains four vertical struts which are colour coded as follows:Yellow Red Blue Green = Left Hand Gate “D” Plate Upper Extension Assembly = Left Hand Gate Lower Extension Assembly + fittings = Right Hand Gate “D” Plate Upper Extension Assembly = Right Hand Gate Lower Extension Assembly + fittings FITTING INSTRUCTIONS HEIGHT EXTENSIONS TO NEW GATES What you will need: 4mm and 3mm Allen Keys, 10mm and 8mm spanners. Unpack the polythene package and identify the four colour coded 10mm carbon fibre pole assemblies and the four colour coded vertical hangers. The gates should in the CLOSED POSITION and SWITCHED OFF during the fitting procedure. Gates fitted with an energiser will be “live” in the closed position while switched on. The parts are supplied with a coloured identification “dot” which corresponds to a similar coloured “dot” on the gate itself. The basic rule is to assemble “dot” to “dot”- yellow to yellow and face to face, blue to blue etc. 2 1. Remove 2 x M5 Nylock nuts and 2 x penny washers from Left Hand Gate D Plate (Yellow). Fit the Yellow coded carbon fibre strut (Yellow Dots FACING each other – it will only fit in that orientation). Replace penny washers and tighten M5 nylock nuts. Loosen the M5 Cap Head screw and nylock nut securing the short aluminium clamp to allow later fitting of 10mm dia carbon fibre. 2. Repeat as above (1) for the Right Hand Gate (Blue coded strut) 3 3. Identify the M6 stud with the yellow dot on the centre pivot. 4. Select the 10mm dia carbon fibre extension with the yellow coded dot. Cut through the tie-wrap securing 2 x penny washers and 1 x M6 nylock fixings. Fit the assembly to the stud in sequence penny washer, assembly (Yellow dots facing) - penny washer, M6 nylock. Tighten loosely. 4 Trap the 10mm dia carbon fibre between the carbon fibre D Plate strut and the aluminium clamp and tighten loosely the M5 cap head screw to allow final adjustment at a later stage. 5. Repeat as above (4) for the Right Hand Gate (Blue coded). 5 6. Identify the Left Hand Gate Lower extension strut and remove the nylock nut from the plastic clamp adjacent to the red dot. Position the clamp on the top outer bar, replace nut and tighten loosely. 6 Measure 60cm from the end of the centre pivot guard to the edge of the plastic clamp and tighten in position. Loosen the middle clamp on the strut and tighten loosely over the lower 16mm dia bar. 7. Loosen the lower aluminium clamp ready to fit the 10mm dia c/f. 8. Identify the Right Hand Gate Lower Extension Assembly (Green) and repeat as above stages (6) and (7). 7 9. Select the 10mm dia carbon fibre extension with the RED coded dot. Cut through the tie-wrap securing 2 x penny washers and 1 x M6 nylock fixings. Fit the assembly to the stud in sequence penny washer, assembly (Yellow dots facing) - penny washer, M6 nylock. Tighten loosely. 8 10. Trap the 10mm dia carbon fibre between the carbon fibre Lower Extension strut and the aluminium clamp and tighten loosely the M5 cap head screw to allow final adjustment at a later stage. 11. Repeat stages (9) and (10) for the right hand gate assembly (Green). 9 12. All fittings are now attached to the gate allowing final adjustments to be made to ensure the gate is symmetrical. 10 SAFETY INFORMATION General Warnings and Precautions Do not remove the plastic covers from the gate arm unless the gate is turned off Do not remove the gate from the gate holder unless the gate has been turned off. Do not remove or change the battery unless the gate has been turned off. Do not connect the battery to a mains charger while the battery is connected to the gate If horses are to pass through the gate such that the gate is opened in front of the horse then the horse should be kept back from but in view of the gate the first time it comes across the gate. Once introduced the horse will treat the gate as any other everyday object. Environmental conditions that may affect use Temperature – The accessory is suitable for temperatures in the range of -15 deg C to 40 deg C.
