GIFT POTHOLDER
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
• Three 1/4 yd cuts calico or 3 fat quarters
• One 1/3 yd cut of calico or 1 fat quarter for backing
• 91⁄2" square of Insul-Bright Needled Insulated Lining
• 1/4 yd HeatnBond® Lite
• Basic sewing supplies
• Sewing machine
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cutting Directions:
a. Background calico - 71⁄2" square
b. Border calico - two 11⁄2"x71⁄2" strips and two 11⁄2"x91⁄2" strips
c. Backing - 91⁄2" square
d. Loop - 2"x6" strip
e. Package Bow - 3"x12" strip
2. Note: 1/4" seam allowance throughout.
3. Stitch shorter border strips to background square on opposite edges. Press seams toward border. Stitch longer
border strips to other two background edges and press seams toward border.
4. Following manufacturer’s instructions, trace gift piece on HeatnBond® and fuse to back of gift fabric. Fuse gift
to potholder top. Zig-zag stitch around perimeter of gift and along dotted lines.
5. Trace and fuse ribbon piece to package. Zig-zag along edges.
6. For hanging loop - fold loop piece in half lengthwise. Press. Open piece and bring raw edges to fold. Stitch
long edges together. Fold to form loop and baste raw edges to top edge of potholder.
7. Place Insul-Bright square on wrong side of potholder top. With right sides together, layer potholder top and
back and stitch along sides leaving an opening for turning. Turn and slip stitch opening. Press.
8. With right sides together, stitch package bow strip together lengthwise. Turn. Cut off a 1" piece and set aside.
Overlap short ends in middle of strip and gather. Stitch 1" piece in center of bow. Stitch to package.

TREE POTHOLDER
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

SNOWFLAKE POTHOLDER
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
• 1/4 yd calico or fat quarter for snowflake
• 1/3 yd calico or fat quarter for background and backing
• 91⁄2" square of Insul-Bright
• 1/4 yd HeatnBond® Lite
• Basic sewing supplies
• Sewing machine
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut two 91⁄2" squares of background fabric.
2. Trace snowflake pattern on HeatnBond® and fuse to back of snowflake fabric. Cut out snowflake and fuse to
one background piece. Zig-zag stitch around snowflake edges.
3. For hanging loop - fold loop piece in half lengthwise. Press. Open piece and bring raw edges to fold. Stitch
long edges together. Fold to form loop and baste raw edges to top edge of potholder.
4. Place Insul-Bright square on wrong side of potholder top. With right sides together, layer potholder top and
back and stitch along sides leaving an opening for turning. Turn and slip stitch opening. Press.
OVEN MITT
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
• 1/2 yd calico for mitt
• 1/8 yd calico for binding and loop
• 1/2 yd Insul-Bright Needled Insulated Lining
• Basic sewing supplies
• Sewing machine
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cutting:
a. Mitt - Cut 4 (mitt pattern)
b. Insul-Bright - Cut 2 (mitt pattern)
c. Loop - 2"x6" strip
d. Binding - 3"x18" fabric
2. With one Insul-Bright piece between two mitt pieces, baste 1/2" around edges. Repeat for second set of pieces.
3. Stitch two mitt sections together. Trim seam allowance and finish as desired. Clip between thumb and mitt sections. Turn.
4. For hanging loop - fold loop piece in half lengthwise. Press. Open piece and bring raw edges to fold. Stitch
long edges together. Fold to form loop and baste raw edges to top edge of oven mitt.
5. With wrong sides together, fold binding piece in half lengthwise. Press. Stitch to top of oven mitt with raw
edges together. Fold beginning of binding to form clean edge. Trim excess binding. Turn binding to inside and
stitch in place.
