Recreation Instructor-In-Training
This course prepares youth for the exciting opportunities in the recreation work field. Skills include program planning, child/group
management and leadership techniques, which are taught in a fun, relaxed classroom setting. Participants will have an opportunity to take
part in a short recreational placement at a City of Oshawa community centre, and utilize their knowledge gained from the program. These
placement hours qualify towards a participant’s volunteer hours for school. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion and gain
valuable experience to assist in future recreational employment settings.

Red Cross Babysitting Course
This course is designed for youth 11 years and up who want to become a babysitter or may already be one. The babysitting course covers
the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, basic child care skills, and what to do in case of an emergency.

When I’m Home Alone
Is your child too old for daycare? Are they ready or are you ready for them to be left home alone? This program is designed to help children
learn the skills required to stay home alone whether just after school or for longer periods of time. Parents/guardians are required to

Standard First Aid & CPR - Recert
First Aid certification is valid for 3 years. Successful candidates will receive both Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification. Prerequisite:
Lifesaving Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification not more than three years from the date of issue. Standard First Aid Recertification
Procedure: Standard First Aid (SFA) award holders may recertify their Lifesaving Society SFA Recertification just once on a Lifesaving
Society SFA recertification course. To renew SFA certification subsequently, award holders must repeat the full SFA Course. Thereafter,
individuals may renew by alternating recertifications and original courses. Holders of SFA certifications from other agencies may not recertify
their certificate on a Lifesaving Society recertification course. They may recertify only with the original certifying agency.
