The volunteer Directors of the Prince Rupert Special Events Society wish to thank you for ut
your time, effort and dedication in your planning and organizing of your Seafest event. Thee
to
events are a valued part of the fun-filled weekend at our communities’ annual festival.

Other communities have an event fee that is charged to sponsors or organizers however we
would like to keep Seafest on an honour system. But we do need some funds to keep the C

festival going! If your event is for profit, we request that 10% of your event profits be allocated
to Seafest, and your funds will be put towards Seafest advertising and operating costs. st

Volunteer Directors of the Special Events Society coordinate and organize Seafest as wellua

the annual Children’s Festival, Canada Day and Winterfest events, and also assist with
”
numerous other civic events. The Society receives a $20,000.00 annual grant from the City
to operate these four events, however, our total annual operating budget is $85,000.00. We
fundraise the remaining dollars throughout the year to purchase fireworks, craft materials,
tents, games, prizes, trophies, and more, to put back into the community festivals.
All of the Directors of Special Events volunteer countless hours towards the organizing of
Seafest, and we hope that you will assist their efforts and keep Seafest afloat. In addition to
the coordinating of the entire Seafest weekend, we also organize and run the Parade,
Seafest Info Booths, the Seniors Tea, Musical Entertainment for both Saturday and Sunday,
Sailpast and Flypast, Blessing of the Fleet, organize the vendors, pick up the garbage…..
Whew, and only with a handful of dedicated people.
Please confirm your event with us before May 22nd so that your event information can be in
the Seafest brochure. Contact us earlier and we will include your event in the newspapers
and radio ads. Please use the Seafest logo on your own posters and advertising, and we will
supply you with the font and the 2015 logo when you request them.
The Saturday downtown events are encouraged to be set up prior to 9 a.m. as the downtown
streets are closed by then for the parade and you will have difficulty accessing the downtown
core after that time. Saturday take-down is after 4:30 p.m. The Sunday events are welcome
to set up after 9 a.m. at the Waterfront with events starting at noon, and take down is after
4:30 p.m.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors
