2014-15 TDSB Secondary Technological Skills Competitions
Poster/T-shirt Design Challenge
The Experiential Learning Department announces the Poster and T-shirt Design Challenges for the TDSB’s
25th Secondary Technological Skills Competitions! The prize in each contest will be $250 for the
student and $250 for their school/department!
ALL submissions must be emailed to [email protected] (or send USB key via Inter
Office mail to Jane Germenis at 140 Borough Drive, 2nd Floor: Experiential Learning (Route SE), received
no later than FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2014.
NEW! COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY: students must have at least one (1) Technological Education credit
on their Credit Counselling Summary in order to enter this contest (in the past or concurrently). This will
be confirmed prior to announcement of winner(s).
MANDATORY DESIGN CRITERIA:
For the T-shirt Contest (short-sleeved only, NO long sleeves):
The following are MANDATORY DESIGN ELEMENTS that must appear:
• Official* TDSB logo (Note: the Skills Ontario logo is optional, as is the Experiential Learning logo)
• Identify that this is the 25th Annual Toronto District School Board Secondary Technological Skills
Competitions
• Design must be appropriate for both genders
• Design must be suitable for being screened onto good quality 100% cotton fabric
• Design must include both the front and back design of the shirt (please identify in submission)
• Design must include a maximum of two silk screen colours, and must denote base fabric colour
-e.g. green and white ink on a black shirt, or yellow and blue on a red shirt
• Design must not exceed a width of 11 inches and length of 9 inches (11”x9”)
• Design must not include any personal identification
• Acceptable submission file formats: JPG or PDF (FYI - Pantone colours will be required for the winning
entry for reproduction purposes)
• Digital copies of the TDSB logo, as well as the Experiential Learning Department and Skills Ontario
logos, are available on the Experiential Learning AW site in the Documents area (Technological
Education/TDSB Skills Competitions 2014)
For the Poster Contest (standard 11” x 17” poster paper, full colour):
• the following are MANDATORY DESIGN ELEMENTS that must appear:
o Text that reads “25th Annual Toronto District School Board Secondary Technological Skills
Competitions”
o Competition date shown: Wednesday March 11, 2015
o Official* TDSB logo (Note: the Skills Ontario logo is optional, as is the Experiential Learning
logo)
o Text that reads “All Secondary Competition and Registration information items, including
Contest Scopes, are posted on the Experiential Learning Academic Workspace site.”
o Text that shows the TDSB website address “www.tdsb.on.ca”
• Acceptable submission file formats: JPG or PDF (FYI - Pantone colours will be required for the winning
entry for reproduction purposes)
• Digital copies of the TDSB logo, as well as the Experiential Learning Department and Skills Ontario
logos, are available on the Experiential Learning AW site in the Documents area (Technological
Education/TDSB Skills Competitions 2013-14)

BEFORE SUBMITTING: Please ensure that all submissions have been individually saved using the
following format: student-name/school/date/teacher/contest-type (T-shirt, or Poster)
As an alternative to email if file sizes are too large, please consider submitting via USB key (include return
school address so we may send the key back to you).

If you have any questions about the design contest, or have students who would like to submit work that
meets the above criteria (incomplete submissions will not be considered), please contact your
Instructional Leader on the Experiential Learning Team: Clenton Morrison (NW), James Corbett (SW),
Maria Carvalho (SE), Helen Ho (NE), or Ed Sedlak (C).
The winning designs will be chosen in November 2014, schools and student
winners will be notified shortly thereafter.
