Let's Show More Interest
Attendance of Greenbelters at town council meeting! has be(·n
notoriously poor in recent months. bringing occasional ~xpressions
of regret from councilmen who feel that they can best perform the11
responsibilities when some community interest and opir.ion is expressed for their guidance.
In view of this situation we regret that the· town couoacil picked
for one of its most important sessions the night of the regular
monthly Citizens association meeHng. Of course it is ea~ y to point
out that only a hundred attended the association meetin ~ and that
there were a good many hundreds left free to hear tl1e council
mull ov.er the 1944 budget and it is easy to remind us thut only
three citizens took the trouble to attend last year's budg!!t session.
Nevertheless there are some residents who take a genui :re interf'st
in the town's problems and effort should be directed ,,,wurd encouraging them.
Now that the Citizens association has demonstrate(· perm an·
ancy in its revival we think councilmen could ·well afford to
atend the monthly meetings, and hold council sessions on sonw
other night than the first Monday of each month.

York where she will receive her
basic training as a WAVE.
She lived at 58-B Crescent rd.
with her parents, one of the first
Greer.belt families. She attended

part in the Glee Club and managing the girl's basketball team After graduating in 1942 she worked
in the Treasury department in

After working for a year and a

Last week Mrs. Mullen received
a telphone call from her daughter
who said, "I like it here v~ry
much. The girls are all nice, and
I'm tired but extremely happy".

camp.
He recently received a
nine day furlough during which
he visited Greenbelt.

A new type or

Individual cards are being given
for each subject. This is being
done so that the parents will get
a better idea of their child's propress in school. Cards are given

times a year.

of Mr. and Mrs. William F ..Joyce,
Sr., of 10-D Hillside Road, entered

"But, Betty, don't you trust me?
"Yes, Lloyd, I'll go to the P.nds
of the earth with you; but I absolutely refuse to park on the
