September 2016 SEPTEMBER START-UP Daylight hours are dwindling but summer’s not over yet. Let’s get outside and enjoy life before the season changes to wet. September’s start-up time again for classes, courses and events, or to volunteer in our community, which is always time well spent. Sign up for fall classes to enhance bodies and minds: hobbies, crafts, games with cards, and fitness of various kinds. You can shop in our Unique Boutique for gently used items in fashion, or attend the weekend dances if dancing is your passion. Socializing is always fun having tea/coffee with friends, talking about vacations or what are the latest trends. Jean Kay poetrytoinspire.com 604-943-9247 Community Centre Newsletter Volunteer Spotlight Jean Kay has been providing us with her wonderful poems for our newsletter for more than 13 years and she is very active in the writing community. Jean writes an inspirational poem every morning. She also writes commissioned poems for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, memorials, etc. Jean Young applies her talent to making unique greeting cards as well as other products. Jean visits the Centre every morning and we’re always delighted to see her latest creations. We expect to see some of her wares available at our Christmas Market. NEW ACTIVITY The South Delta Newcomers and Alumni group has one sub-group called the Scrapbooking Club. For the time being, the group will meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 to 1 pm. Create albums of memories (family gatherings, trips, special events, grandchildren, etc.) as well as a complimentary craft of greeting card making. KinVillage members are welcome to join beginning Sept. 13th. We have a great team of volunteers who provide loving tender care to our plants and flowers all around KinVillage. A big thank you to everyone involved. September 2016 NEW FLOOR - NO SLIPPING! Sincere thanks to Delta Foundation for providing the funds to get our new flooring in the Café kitchen. Chef Adrian Dias had to arrange for the total clearing of the area then put everything back into place. Thanks Adrian and thanks also to the understanding of your patrons. Stay free for the social dance that takes place immediately following each lesson. You’ll learn the Waltz, Cha Cha, Social Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango and Jive. Class size will be limited so sign up early to assure a place. No partner is required. There is no punch card for this program. Just sign up and pay at Reception.
