Spring 2017 - Bromet Primary School

Spring 2017
At Bromet Primary School, this term we have been very busy
introducing our new PSHE Scheme of Work - Jigsaw. The children and
staff have really embraced this. In our recent PSHE questionnaires
children commented:
The best thing I have learnt in Jigsaw is how to keep calm – Yr 4
Jigsaw encourages us to set goals and listen to opinions - Yr6
During our January Inset the staff were taught all about PB (Protective
Behaviours) This is a safety awareness and life skills programme which
builds confidence and resilience by exploring our right to feel safe.
The PB framework helps children and adults to recognise any situation
where they feel worried or unsafe, such as feeling stressed, bullied or
threatened. It can be used as an abuse prevention strategy, as well as
promoting good citizenship. Additionally it recognises that life is also
about challenging ourselves and taking safe risks in order that we try
new things, and that this is both part of our development and an
important life skill. The
programme also looks at identifying support networks for times when
we need someone to listen and help.
Protective Behaviours is based on two key messages:
We all have the right to feel safe all of the time
We can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or
small

The ninety-minute twilight session on Mindsets and Motivation that Robin led at my school was outstanding. I have
never experienced a more positive response ...Robin’s fast-paced and humorous delivery engaged everyone and led to
instant changes. I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit from Robin ...Steve Kelly Headteacher, Arnold Academy .
