Paint Bucket Tool
1. Open up Photoshop
2. Download and open one of the coloring book pages from the website
3. Save this as a (.PSD) as LastName_PaintBucket inside your Photoshop Folder
4. You are going to paint this page!
5. Using the Selection Tools from the previous lessons, select the part of the page you
would like to color
6. Select the Paint Bucket Tool
7. Choose a color
8. Using the Paint Bucket Tool click anywhere inside of the selection
9. To deselect the selection click CTRL+D
10. Continue to do this and paint the whole page
11. Save the File
Gradient Tool
1. Use the SAME document
2. Go to File>Save As
3. Save this as a (.PSD) as LastName_GradientTool inside your Photoshop Folder
4. Select some part of the background of the page
5. Select the Gradient Tool
6. In the Control Panel, click on the gradient sample
dialog box will open.
and the Gradient Editor
7. Click on the Left Stop Button and choose a color from the color palette
8. Do the same thing for the Right Stop Button
9. If you want to add another Stop Button, merely click below the color bar and choose
another color
10. Click OK
11. With your background still selected, click and drag your mouse from the right-top
corner to the left-bottom corner of your selection
12. You now have a gradient fill
13. Use a gradient fill in one other portion of the picture
14. Save the file
Filter Effects
1. Choose another Coloring Page
2. Save this as a (.PSD) as LastName_Filter inside your Photoshop Folder
3. You are going to paint this page like you did in the previous lesson but with a twist!
4. Using the Selection Tools from the previous lesson, select the part of the page you
would like to color
5. Select the Paint Bucket Tool
6. Choose a color
7. Using the Paint Bucket Tool click anywhere inside of the selection
8. We will now add a filter effect
9. Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur
10. You will get a Dialog Box like the one to the right
11. Change the Radius to 15
12. Notice how it gives the selection some texture!
13. Click OK
14. To deselect the selection click CTRL+D
15. Continue to do this throughout the page using different Filter Effects. Try at least 3
different ones!
16. Save the file
Creating a Contact Sheet
You can refer back to the first lab if you need more details
1. Open up Adobe Bridge and Create a Contact Sheet
2. Select the three files: PaintBucket, GradientTool, Filters (Make sure they are named
correctly)
3. Modify the Sheet so that it has 2 Rows and 2 Columns
4. In the Header put your name
5.
6. Save the file as a .PDF in the Photoshop Folder as LastName_Painting
7. Turn it in
