Directions: Use the maps on pages 286, 289, 291, and pages 22-23 to label and color the
following.
1. Use the map on page 286 to identify which countries belong to the Western Europe Region. On the
map below, color all the countries that are included in Western Europe the same color. Be careful to only
shade the countries of Western Europe.
2. On the other side of these directions, carefully label and color the following. Hint: Write small as there
are many things to locate in a small area:
a. Shade the ocean and seas blue. Label the following:
Strait of Gibraltar, Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea, Crete, Sicily, Bay of Biscay, English
Channel, North Sea, Baltic Sea, Adriatic Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
b. Trace the following rivers in blue from end to end and label:
Po, Rhone, Rhine, Danube, Thames, Seine
c. Make brown symbols (vvv)for and label the following mountains:
Alps, Apennines, Pindus, Pyrenees.
d. Label the following countries and their capital cities . Make a symbol (k) for the capitals in the
correct geographic location on your map and name the city. Color the countries different colors
(do NOT use blue for countries) based on their political boundaries:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
e. Label the following Microstates. You will need to make different symbol (— for example) for
microstates in the correct geographic locations:
Andorra, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City.
f. Complete the key on the front side of your map for the symbols used.
