[Scotland Campus in Years Past] Scotland Campus’s Chapel of the Nations is was formerly known at SSVC as the Allfaith Chapel. It was dedicated in 1970, and this depiction of it in an old calendar was accompanied by this caption: “This beautiful building for public worship is set apart with the proper atmosphere for true religious ritual, non-sectarian religious training and church services. The first resident chaplain appointed was Reverend Faust Hissong. Since 1942 the alumni pastor has been Reverend Charles Kerr, Class of 1942.” Today, the Chapel of the Nations is used regularly for Sunday and chapel services for Scotland Campus residents and guests, as well as a venue for events hosted on campus. Ramsden, 1943 grad of SSVC, courtesy of SSVC Alumni Association Cumberland Valley Tree Service held an event in Boozer Dining Hall on January 29 and joined us for Holy Smoke’s BBQ for lunch. January at Scotland Campus was full of exciting challenges as we faced off with the snowstorm. Luckily, our facilities and security staff rallied round and kept everyone safe as we all started the long work of digging out of the snow! What a blessing to have a great cooperative community here. Heavy snow calls for Heavy Machinery! Forrester’s Farm Equipment helped us out with snow removal during the storm. Residence area in the midst of the blizzard. Truly a “marshmallow world”! Meet A New GVCS Student: Jonghee Han Interviewer: Hong Min Q1. How did you get to know about the GVCS Pennsylvania campus at Scotland Campus? Jonghee: I've been attending school at GVCS’s Eumsung campus and heard the news about the Pennsylvania campus there. Q2. What made you come here? Jonghee: I wasn't sure, but I thought I could accomplish my dream here. Q3. How is your school life? Jonghee: I don't know yet because I'm a new student! Q4. What is a strength about GVCS at Scotland Campus? Q5. Our school has a rule that states that students are not allowed to leave this campus until they stay a year here. Do you still want to attend this school? Jonghee: Yes, I think is worth it to stay here even though we're not allowed to go to Korea for one year, because I think I will improve my English skills. Q6. What do you want to achieve while attending the school? Jonghee: I want to become a global Christian leader who interacts with ten billion people around the world. Q7. How would you describe this school in short sentence? Jonghee: A place that educates people to become true global leaders. Jonghee: I think the best part of this school are the good relationships between underclassmen and upperclassmen. Meet A New GVCS Student: Hyeyoon Kim Interviewer: Jaewon Nam Q1. When did you came to GVCS and why? Hyeyoon: I came to GVCS in 2015, because before I came here, I had too much stress about studying and going back and forth between school and academy. Q2. Why did you came to USA campus? Hyeyoon: I came here partly because I wanted to be able to attend an international school when I go to high school. I also came here to improve my English skills and study investments. Q3. What is this school’s advantage? Hyeyoon: After I came here I got to know my old friends (who came here together) better, and also I made new friends and get to attend a club that is related to my future dream. DID YOU KNOW? Global Vision Christian School recently welcomed 25 new students from Korea for the 2016 Spring Semester, with 65 more new students coming on April 2. We are looking for volunteers to help Scotland Campus get cottages set up for these students.
