The nights are growing darker and a little colder, time for the children to start wearing their hats, scarves and gloves! Please ensure they all clearly labelled with your child’s name The children in class 1 have been talking to me about hedgehogs and where to find them! Hibernation sounds cosy! The children are busy rehearsing the Harvest Festival. We are very much looking forward to performing for you on Monday and welcoming you back to school for coffee and cake afterwards. Harvest - Please do bring your fresh and tinned produce today as it will form part of the display in the church over the weekend. You are all very welcome to the Harvest Service on Sunday morning at St Lawrence church. 10.15am for the family service and 6.30pm for the Evening song service. We have lots to keep us active and engaged in school. We will be inviting Megan, our artist in residence, back to work on some wooden art pieces, made from the old jungle gym! Many thanks to the friends of the school for funding this project. Class 2 continue with their Egyptian theme and Class 3 with World War 2. We look forward to welcoming another member of staff – Mrs Pollard will be joining the team in class 1 after half term. Can I bring your attention to parking please. It is ILLEGAL for anyone to park on the yellow lines, including the zig-zag lines outside school. Please park by the church and walk children down to school. This is the safest option. Please be aware when opening car doors out onto the road too. We will be hosting the village traffic safety meeting on Thursday 20th October. You are all invited to attend. A letter will be following from the village committee with further information. Our worship and reflection theme continues to be smiling and inspiring. We are encouraging as many of the children to speak out in a Monday Worship time about what inspires them and what makes them smile. If you could encourage your child to talk about those themes and if they would like to share their thoughts in my Monday Worship time, it would be lovely. Wishing you a lovely weekend. ERICA: excellent maths work based on angles. HARVEST FESIVAL We would like to invite you to our Harvest Festival Service which will be held on Monday 10th October at 1.15pm in St Lawrence Church. We are collecting for the food bank/YMCA. If you would like to donate packets/tins of food, no perishable items, please bring them in on the morning of Friday 7th October. We will be creating a display of produce together with the church. We look forward to seeing you at the service. The Friends will be supplying refreshments back at the school after the Service. If you would like to donate any cakes please bring them in on the morning of Monday 10th October. SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CARDS Your child will be coming home today with a Christmas card sample that they have designed themselves and an order form. If you would like to order anything please complete and return with payment to the school office by Wednesday 19th October so that the order can be sent before half term. Any orders after this date will be charged £7.00 postage and packaging. . NON UNIFORM DAY On Friday 21st October we will be joining in the National non – uniform day for STAND UP TO CANCER. We will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £1.00. 100% of donations go to Cancer Research UK. Dear Parents, Guardians and Teachers, We are now one month into the new school year and it looks like another exciting adventure. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and help throughout last year. We have just had our AGM meeting where we elected our named members. Emma Osborne has kindly agreed to step into the role of Chair again this year. It was also decided at the AGM that the money raised through your fantastic hard work and contributions during the 2015/2016 school year which amounted to over £7000.00 will be allocated in the following way. £1500.00 Music Lessons £1500.00 French Lessons £500 Artist in residence £500 Class 1 £500 Class 2 £500 Class 3 Throughout the year the friends also contribute to the swimming lessons, coach hire for the school theatre trip and numerous other items. If you would like to view the accounts you are more than welcome to. We would like to continually support the school however we can't do this alone. We would be grateful for any help and assistance, be it volunteering at the events, baking cakes, tombola prizes etc please approach any of the members or contact the office. We have numerous activities coming up, including a Tea, Coffee and cake sale after the Harvest Festival in Class 3 and the Christmas fair in December; if you would like to have a stall, have any ideas or volunteer on the day please contact us. There will also be a Bags to School collection after the half term break, excellent time to have a pre-Christmas clear out.
