“From the President’s Desk...”
This quarter of the new academic year has seen the
embarkation of our social venture “Vidiyal” with the
refresher training of 300 PG teachers from Govt Higher Sec
School and the second year in succession has witnessed
the INSPIRE programme for inspiring Science in the minds
of about 160 high-school students. I appreciate all the
teachers responsible for these happenings. It gives me
great pleasure to see that the much-talked-about IndustryInstitute interaction taking place: The Texas Instruments
(India) selecting our students’ projects in their First phase;
the CSE Department interacting with Micro Soft labs for
involving technology for improving education; and the
BME Dept interacting with HCL for Risk Management of
Medical Instruments.
I am glad to note that this is the time when all the
departments conducted National seminars and all of
them were well attended. I congratulate Dr P. Balaji,
our Physical Director for securing Ph.D. Our athletes
“From the Principal’s Desk...”
It gives me great pleasure to begin with the words of
Swami Vivekananda, “We are responsible for what we
are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the
power to make ourselves. If what we are now, has been
the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that
whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our
present actions; so we have to know how to act.” The
activities of this quarter prove that the staff and students of
SSN are working hard to build the future of the institution.
The Department of CSE organized a six-day AICTE
sponsored Staff Development Program on “Recent Trends
in Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition” in the first
week of July 2012; a two-day national level workshop on
“Network Simulator 2 (NS2) - Hands-on Training” and
a one-day workshop on “C Programming Principles and
Data Structures” on 15 Sept 2012. CSI Student Chapter
organized a workshop on “SCILAB Open Source Software
for Numerical Computation” with TechPassion and
EQUALIS as the knowledge partners on 18 August 2012.
The Department of IT organized a one-day hands-on
training on “MIDLet Programming with J2ME” on 6 July
2012. The Department of IT and the Department of
Computer Applications organized an FDP on “Introduction
to TCAD and its Applications” on 17 and 18 August 2012.
Dr. N. Lakshmi Narasimhan and Mr. R. Prakash, faculty
advisors of SAEINDIA SSNCE - Collegiate Club organized
a two-day national workshop on “Design, Development
and Simulation of Formula-1/Commercial Cars”, in
association with M/s. Meta Wing Infotech Pvt. Ltd on 25 &
26 July 2012.
The Department of ECE conducted a workshop
on “DSP Integrated Circuits” on 17 August 2012;

Communication and Information Technology, New Delhi
on 14 and 15 Sept 2012, and an Industry Oriented
Short Term course on “Wireless Technologies” at HCL
Technologies Ltd., Vadapalani on 28 & 29 Sept 2012.
The Department of Chemical Engineering conducted a
national level conference on “Nanomaterials” sponsored
by DRDO on 7 Sept 2012.

Ms. Kala Vijayakumar
have proved their worth: Sushmitha in Aquatics, Gokula
Lakshmi and Suneri in Tennis, Nelesh Subramaniam in
Cricket, Sameera Kumar in TT, and Shankar in Shot put.
The SSN trophy was well-conducted and attended by
more than 80 institutes. I congratulate all those who have
rendered selfless service for the conduct of the same.
Before I conclude, let me share with you a thought, my
dear teachers and students: There were 1110 offers for
700 students! I look forward to better their achievements
in quarters to come, no doubt. This achievement tells us
that the quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to
his/her commitment to excellence, whatever the chosen
field may be. You are responsible for discovering and
developing your own unique talents and abilities. You
should never leave the development of your full potential
to chance. Live in the precious present, with the precious
past as a backdrop, and the precious future in view.
Dr. S. Salivahanan
SSN College of Engineering successfully conducted
a Refresher Training Programme for PG Teachers,
in connection with VIDIYAL. 300 PG teachers from
Government Schools of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry
participated on 27 & 28 July 2012.
SSN conducted the INSPIRE Science Camp sponsored
by DST, where 160 students from different schools
participated. Dr. N.P. Rajesh, AP/Physics was the convenor
for this camp.
Let me take this space to congratulate our faculty, Dr. K.
Elangovan, Asso.Prof. / Mech., Dr. M.S. Alphin, Asso.Prof. /
Mech., Dr. R. Subashini, AP/BME, Dr. R. Ramaprabha, Asso.
Prof. / EEE, on being recognized as Research Supervisors

“CRANKX 2012” from 28 Aug to 3 Sept 2012.
Our college conducted SSN TROPHY - 2012, an All
India Inter Collegiate Tournament for Tennis, Table Tennis,
Chess, Badminton and Basketball for the 10th consecutive
year. We had 84 institutions with over 1100 student
participants this year. Ms. Rushmi Chakravarthy, Olympian
and International Tennis Player declared the tournament
open on 24 August 2012.
Teacher’s Day was celebrated with Mr. Erode Tamil
Anban, Poet and Orator as the Chief Guest on 26 Sept
2012. Awards to the best teachers of each department
and prizes for the cultural event winners were distributed
during the occasion.
Let me quote the words of Swami Vivekananda once
again, “Take up one idea. Make that idea your life – think
of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain,
muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that
idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way
to success.”

English medium student.
The Ides of March
A time when the world was in God’s hands!
The time when Rome had Caesar reigning high
First the northern part, then the eastern sure
For Caesar was thrilled over his mighty feat.
Many of his royals assisted him, no doubt
But Caesar had no idea of the awaiting grim.
Decius Brutus and Publius Cimber and the rest
Were there to figure out great Caesar’s future.
The very same night hath Calpurnia dream,
But could make out neither head nor tail of it.
A lioness did weep and live blood did spill,
Yet the effect on Lord Caesar was damn nil.
Eminent Caesar was to be crowned the king
His destiny though belonged to just one thought.
Before dashing forth to the famous senate hall
Anxious Calpurnia said, “I fear you’ll be dead!”
Cowards face death many times before they die
But the brave have only one moment to sigh.
“You are engulfed by arrogance,” she said,
For it is thus I fear that you’ll meet your end.
With confidence, the chariot Caesar did mount,
A grey beard sounded a warning note to Caesar.
“I condemn what you say,” he said, “Filthy rebel!
Who dares to speak to me, I sentence to hell.”
The grey beard replied, “Beware Mighty Caesar,
Believe me, dire corollary awaits you Sir!
Beware, or your glory may be lost forever. Sir”
“Let us go forth! Dear Caesar,” Brutus added.
Caesar’s mind changed all of a sudden, and off
He set forth, saying to the greybeard: “You utter
Wrong words, I care a damn for what you say.
I will ascend the pulpit and reign for many years.”
Caesar could not read the minds of the filthy
Who stood close to him surrounding him.
Decius and other conspirators rose and said;
“Release Cimber please, or you will be dead.”
Congratulations !
S. Amrutha, IV B.Tech. (Chemical) and R. Ganesh Karthick,
III B.Tech. (Chemical) secured the first position in the paper
presentation event (Biosciences of Engineering) in graVITas
2012, an international knowledge carnival held at VIT
University, Vellore, on 14 Sept 2012. Title of the paper is
“Synthesis of silver nano particles from neem leaves”.
---------------------
DST sanctioned the project titled “Visible light active
metal and non-metal doped mesoporous TiO2 nanoparticles
for photocatalytic applications” with a grant of Rs. 26 lakhs.
Dr. M. Mahalakshmi, Asst.Prof. / Chemistry, is the Principal
Investigator.

“Never! I am constant as the Northern star
Publius Cimber is trouble for many but one.
He’s exiled forever; cannot be called back;
Those who oppose would face my knife.”
“So it shall be oh Caesar,” Brutus thought
“If you wish to step into the pyre, hot.”
As fate would have it – North and South,
East and West, Caesar was stabbed to rest!

brutalities of our own will. This little point of nothingness
and of absolute poverty is the pure glory of God in us”.

unique encouraging the student community at large.
QUESTIONS
As he looked at the faded photograph placed on the tea
stand in his large living room, tears rolled down his cheeks. Was
it my fault? Was it something I said or did that you went away?
He asked himself, not just today but every other day for the past
3 years.
The gong went in the 9th time. He wiped his tears and
began to head towards the huge oak door. He grabbed a key
from the key bunch. Locked the door and he walked to the
silver sedan that was twinkling in the rays of the sun. It was
a dream car. He smiled as he got into the driver’s seat. The
engine woke up to the dance of the key. Out of the lonely road
into the busy streets of Mumbai, the sedan became another
prey to the traffic like any other car. He arrived at his office.
As he walked from his car to the lift across the basement lit by
the sun rays, he managed to slip his hand and take his phone
from the inner pocket of his blazer. The elevator gave a beep
telling him that his floor arrived. He walked like every other day
with a broad smile greeting everyone in his office and adding a
smile to everyone on their faces overloaded with curiosity about
meeting deadlines, anxious about pay hikes and making their
presentation work. He opened the clean glass door, the gateway
of his cabin. He walked to his cabin, unbuttoning the three of
his blazer, put it over his seat and sat down. He pulled up the
left hand cuff and stared at the watch he wore. A watch that he
adored so much. Sheer craftsmanship-metal strap, black dial,
grey hands and roman numerals in silver. He then looked at
his desk. Made out of wood was his name plate. A triangular
prismatic one. He slowly took it in his hand and with a faint smile
read “MANAGING DIRECTOR” his designation. He then turned
it the other way. In golden beautiful cursive writing was a name
that defined him “Rithwik Shah”.

and tenders. As monotonous as every other day, even today
ended. He hit the shut down on his laptop, stood up, took his
blazer wore it and walked out of his cabin. He was the last
person to whom the very weak, old security serving the company
gave a salute every evening. He stepped into the elevator alone,
and walked alone out of the elevator at the basement. Got into
his chariot, the engines roared and he was on his way back.
It was almost sunset as he reached one end of the QUEEN’S
NECKLACE. Horns and potholes welcomed him. He drove ahead
and pulled over. Stepped out of his car, locked it and sat where
he used to since all the way back till his memory could go back,
on the stones.. those cylindrical rocks that bordered the entire
stretch of the beach. Sat alone, staring at the endless blue
Arabian Sea. He reluctantly walked from the stone that was
DHRUV RASTOGI’s favourite.
Time flies, especially when someone is lost in the world of
admiration....so it did...every other day since he was six years
old. For the last 3 years he has been sitting here alone. He then
walked up to his car, and drove till Juhu beach. His next favourite
destination. Again he pulled over his car and this time he walked
to the famous WADA PAV stall. He bought himself his favourite
snack. And relishing the maharastrian delicacy he walked on the
sands of the beach. How things turn topsy turvy? As he munched
into his WADA PAV, he could see two hazy figures walking with
the same delicacy in their hands, walking along the beach. His
smile, how his eyes closed when he smiled broad. “Where on
earth are you lost DHRUV?” a question RITHWIK asked himself
tirelessly. A question that was lost in silence, it was not a random
question that had no reply. This place was his date for the past
so many years. RITHWIK’s family had moved to Mumbai, then.
Opposite to his flat was this young little naughty fellow peeping
at his newly moved neighbours. DHRUV’s family welcomed their
new neighbours with so much warmth. They became very close
Just then, his secretary walked in and read out his schedule.

to each other in a very short period of time. DHRUV and RITHWIK
went to the same school, shared the same interests. Years
passed, city changed, people changed but if one thing did not
change it was their friendship. They walked with WADA PAV in
their hands every evening after college, spoke about everything
in this world from girls, country, environment, movies, matches,
politics, corruption and you name anything it was there in their
discussion.
It was like every other day, yet today was little different,
long walk along the beach and RITHWIK was stunned at the
strange question that DHRUV bombarded him with “DO YOU
FEEL HAPPY WHEN YOU SPEND TIME WITH ME?” RITHWIK gave
a wild stare, DHRUV smiled. He laughed and laughed seeing
RITHWIK’s shell shocked expression. His stomach ached really
hard. He said “ DUDE... his signature way of addressing when
he cracks a joke. He said, “I am asking a question as if I am
your girlfriend and you stare back at me as if I cheated on you.”
Though it took a few seconds for RITHWIK to understand the
logic and the prank, RITHWIK was so embarrassed that he could
feel his jaw drop in the shock. DHRUV paused all of a sudden.
He stared at RITHWIK and RITHWIK returned the same look.
They both burst out laughing altogether. Making sure RITHWIK
did not notice DHRUV’s hands went into his back pack, his
hand tightly held something with great care, it was perfectly
gift wrapped. DHRUV stuffed it into RITHWIK’s hand. He said
“this is a day I eagerly await every year, your birthday. Wish you
many many more HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DUDE”. RITHWIK
was taken aback; it was something different not how DHRUV
would do. A gift in advance was not so unacceptable. RITHWIK
felt as if he was with a stranger. A person you believe as all the
time since you were able recognise things being so different
and your prediction going wrong never made sense. But it
really never mattered, DHRUV’s gift, was timeless. He quickly
unwrapped it, it was a wrap of the time since the day it all began
till the last birthday...a photo collage. A memory collection of all
the pictures of RITHWIK, starting from his first birthday, first in
Mumbai till the picture that RITHWIK posed for last month during
their midnight walk. DHRUV put his hand around RITHWIK’s
shoulder, RITHWIK felt as if he was on top of the world and
had no fear as the person who stood beside him was the one
he could trust with eyes closed. DHRUV said “DUDE, am saying
all these nice things because you know I am nefarious. I need
a treat.” RITHWIK punched him in his stomach, and said you
completed enjoying the treat and his eye balls rolled down and
sarcastically looked at the empty WADA PAV PLATE. RITHWIK
ran, and DHRUV caught up and now the by-standees were
witnessing a wrestling match. Finally they two mutually called it
off. RITHWIK dropped DHRUV at his place, the large mansion;
they bought post DHRUV’s dad’s promotion, about four years
back. DHRUV was alone in that huge mansion. DHRUV said a
week ago that his parents went out of station. RITHWIK insisted
a lot asking him to stay back in his place overnight, but DHRUV
was stubborn. He said he did not mind staying solitary in the
huge mansion. RITHWIK woke up next morning, and he saw
speckles floating space on the path enlightened by the sun’s
rays that landed softly on his cheek. His mom walked into his
room and wished him. He got ready in a jiffy... carefully took out
the photo collage that DHRUV gave him and placed it on the
large tea stand. A chunk of the memories that defined RITHWIK
SHAH he said to himself, pride in his thoughts and smile on his
lips.
He rushed out of the door and looked at his watch and told
to himself that he must make it on time to DHRUV’s place. As
he turned at the street corner into the busy road that lead to
DHRUV’s home, his eyes searched eagerly and kept staring at
the door to see that one person who meant the world to him.
He continued searching for that one person, but there were no
Vol 22
signs. He walked to the door and the bell screamed at that top
of its voice unable to bear the force of the index finger. His
ears were trying to be precise to make sure they could hear
movement of the person from inside the house. His eyes looked
at something and he never realised what was happening. His
eyes stared at the lock, his hands moved towards the lock. His
fingers were trembling as he clutched the lock. He was feeling
the entire world of his was locked behind the door. He thought
of DHRUV’s new way of wishing him. So he pulled out his phone
from the right pocket of his pant and pressed the speed dial 2. It
read dialling DHRUV. There was no response. He called, called
and called. Was it a joke? Enough of it DHRUV come back he
thought. His legs never let him place his foot on the way back
to his home. He did not walk, he was dragged by his parents
who frantically called him about 19 times, still not even half
way near the number of time the number 2 button lost its life
in RITHWIK’s phone. May be DHRUV is busy?? But Busy?? He
thought... his inner voice spoke busy so much so as to not attend
your calls RITHWIK? There was this war of conflicting thoughts
as he waited outside DHRUV’s home. His parents managed to
take him home.
The hazy figures were lost in the sands of time. RITHWIK
never remembered how he survived the aftermath of this shock.
Something’s were there that RITHWIK got in memory of DHRUV.
His car was never his favourite, it was DHRUV’s dream car, his
watch that ticked every moment of life bringing the uncertain
future, and horrific past together was what DHRUV tirelessly
admired every day as they walked down the road to the beach
on the showroom roadside. More than that, his parents were
glad that their son was alive after such a JOLT. He could do
nothing else but re live each and every moment he spent that he
defined as life by doing everything the same way. He searched
for the answers to the same questions that he asked every day
after that day every morning and moment in day when he could
possibly question himself.
SOME QUESTIONS IN LIFE DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER,
SOME MUST BE LEFT UNANSWERED, SOME MUST RATHER NOT
BE ASKED, SOME HAVE ANSWERS WITHIN THEMSELVES, SOME
QUESTIONS ARE WORTH ASKING FOR THE ANSWER ATLEAST,
BUT THOSE QUESTIONS REMAIN AN UNSOLVED MYSTERY,
JUST LIKE THE MANY QUESTIONS THAT RITHWIK HAD.

The Inheritance
He was rich beyond our imagination and famous. He
was a celebrity and was always surrounded by media
limelight. Being America’s richest entrepreneur and a close
acquaintance of the President himself, Steve Robinson had
little to worry about except for a distressing thought that,
in spite of all the opulence around him, he may not be
able to see his two children who he loved dearly before he
died. Robinson was counting his days as he was eighty six
now and was a chronic heart patient. He had always been
a loving father but they had never understood his affection
for them. Since their mother had died when they were
very young, he had to hire a nurse named Rosemary. Her
story had been a sad one and she had had none to care
for her. This had made Robinson grow close to her and
shower brotherly love. Unfortunately, he could never make
them understand that and disgusted, they had left him as
soon as they could stand on their own feet. Unaware of
their whereabouts now, he only knew that his son was a
lawyer and his daughter was a fashion designer. He had
tried hard to communicate with them but n vain as they
had always spurned his advances. This night, as he lay
in his bed alone, a sharp pain began in the left of his
chest which increased in intensity by the second. Yes, the
time had come. He knew this as well as his name when
his heart went into cardiac arrest and his life was slowly
sucked out of its mortal shell that night. His fear had come
true at last. But thankfully, it was almost instantaneous
and lasted for a mere couple of minutes and his struggle
was minimal. Soon, everything was silent and settled and
his body had become as motionless as the dead, leafless
trees which stood outside the window that wintry night.
**************
It was nine on Sunday morning when the bedside phone
rang in Harry’s room. He was a lawyer in Chicago and was
about to wrap up his first successful case in almost eons.
Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he grudgingly picked up
the receiver only to have the shock of his life as his father,
the great Steve Robinson, had died at midnight last. Harry
was the second child, the only son of Steve Robinson and
he had almost forgotten this. The Robinson family lawyer,
Mr. Williams was the caller and he requested Harry’s
presence at the funeral that evening and for the reading
of the will the next day. Further, he didn’t forget to mention
that Harry was to inherit $10 billion at which Harry went
wild eyed in bewilderment. 10 billion dollars! Incredible!
Exactly ten minutes later, a cell phone rang in Paris, one
of the fashion capitals of the world. It was picked up by a
pretty woman in her early 40s. She was Sarah Robinson,
the elder child of the late world renowned entrepreneur,
Steve Robinson. She was now almost a millionaire herself
and was currently amidst preparations for the fashion
show that evening when she received the same news that
her brother received. And she was flabbergasted. $10
billion was incredibly more than she could hope for to
expand her fashion empire all over the world!
***************
Within an hour’s time both Harry and Sarah were
aboard their planes bound for New York. All along the
way Harry contemplated about the things he could do
with this exorbitantly high amount like buying a mansion
of gothic proportions as he no longer had to live in the
12
miserable, dirty little tenement that he was in now. Hell,
he did not even have enough money to spend on an air
ticket! But, no longer! Same was the case with Sarah.
Her main agenda was to defeat Michelle, her arch rival
and become her envy, among other things. After all,
Robinson’s children were more concerned about their
inheritance than their father’s demise. But they didn’t
know that their inheritance was going to be very different.
When they reached the Robinson mansion they were
warmly received by the butler John Hawkins, who had
served the Robinsons loyally for decades, the head cook,
Fitzgerald, the gardener, Michael and his wife, Elizabeth
and the head Security in charge, Ralph. Good old
Hawkins’ eyes were bloodshot and as he had been crying
all day. It was hard to believe that Harry and Sarah were
brother and sister as the distance between them was
apparent from the negligible conversation between them,
which was in the most general terms. Soon, dressed in
black, the duo accompanied the funeral procession to
the local graveyard. And throughout the service, both sat
rigid, stony faced, expressionless as poor Hawkins broke
down repeatedly. Soon, the body of the phenomenon
called Steve Robinson in its coffin was lowered into its
final resting place and sealed.
Much later, well past midnight, when a heavy silence
prevailed in the mansion, two hushed voices could be
heard from the main kitchen, both male. The older man
among the two said,”The time has come, Peter. We must
delay no longer and strike now as we mustn’t waste this
opportunity.” The other man named Peter said,”Of course,
I know that well and tonight I’ll finish off the younger
one. Tomorrow, I will have what I have wanted so badly
for thirty long years.” The older man replied,” You shall
have it, my son. Good luck!” Now, Steve Robinson had
one major mortal enemy in this world. Years ago he had
been the cause of arrest of a poor twelve year old boy,
James who had committed a petty theft in his mansion.
Since the boy had been so weak mentally, he could not
bear the trauma of being in jail and so he died. Soon,
his mother, unable to bear the grief, also ended her life.
Now, James was Peter’s brother and since that day, Peter
and his father had vowed that they would destroy each
and every remaining member of the Robinson family. But
one may ask, why they didn’t finish off Robinson earlier,
allowing him to die naturally. Now, that was because, they
took much pleasure in seeing him suffer in his heart at
being separated from his dear children and they wanted
to enjoy this sight for as long as possible. Thus, they let
nature become their accomplice and finish their job for
them.
It was already half past midnight and Harry was not
sleepy. How could he be? He was about to become a
billionaire overnight and was naturally brimming with
excitement and thrill. He despised the night for delaying
the golden moment. Just as he was planning to retire
for the day (anyway, he had to kill the time), he heard a
knock at the door of his enormous bedroom. “Must be
old Hawkins”, he said to himself, as he opened the door
and in a second, he could see crimson fluid, which was
actually his blood, flowing out of his abdomen following
the dagger that had stabbed him thrice and now had
VIBRATIONS available online at www.ssn.edu.in/vibrations.html

been withdrawn for the last time. Before he could have
a glimpse of his attacker, there was a hard blow to his
head from something that looked like a club and he could
see more crimson. The next second, everything went black,
and he fell into oblivion. As Harry fell down, slowly dying,
Peter stood over him and leered with a monstrous grin on
his face, knife and club in hand. Mission accomplished. His
father would take it from here.
Early next morning, Sarah was woken up by old John
Hawkins himself. He was weeping uncontrollably and
was pouring out his emotions with so much force that
it seemed too good to be genuine to her. To her it even
looked as if he was overreacting. She said,”Its okay, Dear
John. I can understand your pain and grief. We, Harry and
I, very well know your loyalty and how you’ve always been
a well wisher of this family. But, what has to happen will
happen and cannot be prevented. All pain and distress
will get wiped out with the passage of time. Believe me.”
Hawkins replied, “Dear miss, you won’t be consoling me
now if you come to know what a terrible thing happened
last night.” She could not understand and so she asked
him,” What do you mean, John?” Hawkins said,” Miss, I
wish you didn’t have to hear this. The young master is also
dead and it is a double loss for the Robinson family now.
He was, he was, was murdered last night.” Speechless
and stunned, Sarah refused to believe what she had heard
just then. Who could have breached the tight security and
enter the mansion, to kill? Sarah directly made her way to
her brother’s room, ignoring the multitude of press people
and uniformed officers. There his corpse lay, surrounded
by flashing cameras. Sarah could still not believe that she
was the only existing member of the Robinson family now.
Though she hadn’t spent much time with her brother since
they parted ways that day, he had always been there for
her after their mother had died. She had once loved Harry
more than their father and now she could feel emotions
welling up inside her. When asked for suspects, she didn’t
mention any particular name. Soon, the body was taken
away for post-mortem. The reading of the will and the
division of the property was also postponed to a later time.
Of course, now Harry’s share will go towards charity as
put down in the will.
Soon, Hawkins came in and said,”Breakfast is ready,
miss. Kindly come with me to the dining hall.” Sarah did
not reply and so Hawkins said,” Now it is you who needs
consolation, my child. I know how terrible you must be
feeling now, having lost your family. If you talk to someone
and have some food to warm you and lift your spirits, it will
at least lessen the burden.” “Sure Hawkins, I’ll be there
in five minutes”, she said. “Very well, miss”, he said and
smiled. There was something in his smile that disturbed
Sarah.
Vol 22
saying,” In some ways, death is better as it is sublime
and more peaceful than this life. Won’t you agree, Miss?”
Now Sarah was fainting. She could not focus on what
she was doing and put down her spoon as she could no
longer go on. She could no longer sit straight up and
her head fell on the table on its own accord. Suddenly,
she could faintly see her blood spurting out of her nose
and mouth and with it, her life. As she closed her eyes
for one last time and darkness engulfed her, she could
faintly hear these words in the unmistakable voice of the
butler,”Die! Die, you heartless barbarians for what you
did to a helpless little boy of twelve and his mother, in
turn. Die, you cruel brutes for the evil that you did! You
deserve to be stabbed and poisoned! Now is the time
justice has been secured and it has triumphed! Now is
the time for revelry!!!” The next second, Peter Hawkins
who had been watching this action emerged from a
distance and one could see the devilish glee on his face
that matched his father’s. He had been watching all this
action. Then both the Hawkins, father and son, cried in
unison,”Yes, we did it!!!”
Five minutes had been time enough for Hawkins to
poison Sarah’s food. Yes, John Hawkins was the father
of poor, unlucky James Hawkins. He was the very man
who had lost his wife and son owing to the great Steve
Robinson and had plotted the murder of Harry the night
before with his son Peter. When Hawkins had begun his
duties as a butler that day for the first time, Robinson had
had little suspicion that he would one day become the
destroyer of the family. Well, finally both Sarah and Harry
had had their inheritance from their father. And about
John Hawkins’ son Peter, doesn’t he look like Ralph, the
Head Security in charge?

wanted to be out of this place forever and back in Paris.
As Hawkins sat in front of her, she started to eat slowly

her. As she stuffed more food into her mouth, her vision
