bang. The hot winds, burning sun and undying thirst keep us confined to the cool
environs of our home. So, to beat the boredom of the long summer hours, here are
a few activities to challenge your creativity!

Dear students,
Enjoyment is a key element in doing the ‘Summer Assignment’ having fun as you learn is our aim and
goal. Follow the instructions and step by step guide as you will find out that the English homework
helps you to be observant and expressive!
1. Make a file/folder/scrapbook of about 8-10 A-4 size sheets.
2. The title page should have the heading ‘Literary Digest’.
3. Use 2 pages to create a profile of the famous dramatist William Shakespeare. Put pictures and
interesting information about him.
4. Use 2 pages to make a list of famous quotes from Shakespearean plays. (This list will be very
useful in writing debates or speeches!).
5. Use 2 pages to write a Book Review. Choose a book that you have actually read! Rick Riordan,
Agatha Christie or J.K. Rowling are the list of authors from which one should be chosen. Your
Book Review can include:
- Most impressive character. Why?
- Most interesting part of the book. Why?
- Overall opinion of the book.
- Message or moral conveyed. (optional)
6. Use 2 pages to add any other element to your Literary Digest. You may
use any of the following suggestions or something else that catches your
interest.
- Crosswords/ jumbled words
- Vocabulary/ alert/ word games
- Cartoon strips/ quizzes
- Sports update/ entertainment news.
NOTE:
The homework must be original and the proper references should be made in accordance with the task.
Neat, creative and beautiful presentation would be highly appreciated.

Mathematics and Optical Illusions
Optical illusions are like magic to your eyes. They are pictures
that trick the eyes of people. In other words, the eye sees things
that are not really there or are different that what they are
supposed to be.
So big question is how is it related to maths? Optical illusions are
usually made up of angles, speed, geometry – lines, spirals, triangles, circles and space. Main
mathematical concepts that directly relate to optical illusions are:

e.g. spiral illusions are illusions that make concentric circles
appear to be spiral.

SOCIAL SCIENCE
There are some people who help us in our household work. Some of us do not treat them well. Why is
it so? Is it because they are underprivileged and poor or because as ‘masters’ we expect to control
every aspect of their life? Consider a day when they are not around – would it make life simpler,
smooth or more tough and demanding?
a) Write a report on how you managed the day when the help at home was absent.
b) Also realizing that domestic helpers are human too,
