Creating a Picture Frame in Fireworks MX 1. Open up an image by choosing File > Open 2. Select Commands > Creative > Add Picture Frame. The following window will appear: 3. Click on the drop down arrow to choose the type of frame. For this example I chose the Blue Wave pattern. 4. Select the number in the box below the words “Frame Size:” For this example I chose 10 for the width of the frame. 6. Change that to a number of your choosing (This number represents the width –in pixels- of the frame that will be applied to the image). 7. Click OK The image now looks like the following: Changing the pattern of the frame 1. In the layers panel (located on the right side of your workspace), locate the layer titled Frame. Click on the Padlock to the right of the eye. This unlocks the frame. 2. Return to the workspace (image) and click on the frame around the image. 3. Locate the tools panel (located on the left side of the workspace) and find the paint bucket near the bottom of the panel – look for the section called colors. 4. Click on the down arrow of the color palette 5. Click on Fill Options 6. In the top drop down box, click and locate the word solid. 7. Then click on the color palette square to change the color of the frame to a solid color of your choosing. The image now looks like the following: Notice the frame is now a solid color and it has an inner bevel applied as an effect. If you don’t want the inner bevel effect, do the following: 1. In the properties panel (located at the bottom of the workspace), locate the effects area (near the right hand side of the panel) and click on the check mark next to the words “inner bevel”. The image now looks like this: This solid color around the picture now serves as a mat for the frame. Adding a second frame to this picture. 1. Select Commands > Creative > Add Picture Frame. 2. Select a pattern from the drop down list (I chose to select a Wood 2 pattern). 3. Select a size for the frame (I chose a frame size of 10 pixels).
