The Violet Girl Written by Maddie D. Chapter 2: BB Syndrome & The Joker As a result of BB Syndrome, Crystal has a microscopic probe placed in her brain and when it is activated her skin starts to change color and then her body starts to inflate in the shape of a blueberry. The only way Crystal can live with this disease is to have her three charms: the bracelet of strength, the necklace of health, and her portable breathing machine. The reason why The Joker cursed Crystal and her grandmother with BB Syndrome was because the family holds the greatest power ever known in the world: the rainbow crystal. The Joker created BB Syndrome because if anyone in Crystal’s family was out of his way, then it would be easier for him to grab the crystal. If the crystal was in the wrong hands, then the whole world could be under the power of The Joker. In the next chapter, I will tell you how Crystal deals with the disease at school. Chapter 3: School Days By: Maddie D. Crystal goes to South Harmon High School and their mascot is the Blowin’ Butterfly. Her friends are May, Jacob, and Sarah. They will always try to help Crystal whenever she is in a pinch. The teachers know about Crystal’s condition and if she starts to inflate, then her teacher would tell her to swallow a pill and use her portable breathing machine. Crystal wishes she could live a life without a disease, syndrome, or disorder, and live like a healthy 16 year old girl. She may never know whether she is a person with a disease or a diseased person, but she will always be Crystal. 5 Good News for Music Fanatics Review by Justin R. CHAPTER II THE UNKNOWN STORY “…I was 14 years old and my father died in London, so my mother was taking me back to America on Poseidon. At that time, the class rule was still approved, but after this, the class rule would change. Anyway, I was at Southampton docks and my mother was amazed.” “Poseidon is one of the finest vessels of it’s kind, did you know that,” asked my mother. “You told me twelve times,” I said. Then I had short brown hair and I was smart and strong. “Lets board now,” my mother suggested. I nodded. Slowly, we got on the gangway and looked up. It was an amazing site to see. My eye then spotted something else. It was a girl with long brown hair braided. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She was boarding on the boat deck. *** After a great dinner in the first and second-class dining room (below) and meeting a new friend named Jason Manns, who was in third class, we sat in our second-class cabin, watching television. Then my mother grabbed the remote from my hands and turned it off. “Time for bed,” called my mother. I looked at the clock. It was 9:10 P.M. “No it’s not,” I said back to her. My mom gave me that look where she wasn’t happy about what she was hearing. “You’re going to bed, now.” “No I’m not. Dad would let me stay up until 11:00. I’m not a child anymore!” “You’re father is dead. Now you go to bed,” she drew in a breath, “NOW!” “NO!” I pulled on my leather jacket and headed for the door. “Not so fast, young man,” said my mother, “you are going to bed NOW!” “Mom, I can make my own choices now. I’m 14 years old. And I’m going to make then, whether you like it or not.” And slammed the door. I was furious with my mother I ran down the corridors, passing passengers, crew, stewards, and others. I was finally at the boat deck. “How could my mother treat me like this!? I should be able to stay up until midnight; and-“ I could hear someone crying in the distance. I completely forgot what my mother said, and ran towards the crying. When I finally reached the person, I found that the person was a girl. She was wearing a sapphire blue dress, and trying to lower a lifeboat. “Uh…miss?” She looked at me, then turned back. “Go away,” she said. She sounded sad, and she had a British accent. “Hey…you’re the girl who boarded on this deck,” I said. “And I wish I wasn’t,” the girl said. “Umm…what are you doing?” “Running from this life I have.” “Well, I’ve tried to run away a billion times, and my mother always gets me, and she always tells me that she loves me.” She looked up at me, then looked back. “My father doesn’t love me.” “What happened to your mother?” “She committed suicide. My father was making her life so miserable that she committed suicide. But the day before she did it, she gave me this.” She took her necklace off her neck and showed it to me. It was a blue diamond with a diamond chain. At this point in my story, the captain interrupted. “That’s it! We’re looking for that necklace!” “As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted, she showed the beautiful necklace. Then I asked, Is that a sapphire?” “No, it’s just dyed blue to make it look like a sapphire. But nothing’s stopping me to entering this lifeboat.” 7 “It would be a shame to lose everything you held so dear. If you change you’re mind, grab my hand.” I held out my hand to her. She looked at it, then looked at me, then back to my hand. She then grabbed it and I pulled her back on the ship. She stepped on the deck. I could easily see that she was wearing high heel shoes. “Where are my manners? I’m John Clark.” “I’m…Emily, I mean…Emma Brownly.” “Well, nice to meet you Emma.” “Nice to meet you too,” she cleared her throat, “John. First, what class are you in?” asked Emma. “Second,” I answered. “I’m not allowed to talk to other classes outside first.” “You’re in first?” I asked. She nodded. I looked down. “You can let go of my hand now,” I said. She was still grasping my hand, then released it. “Sorry.” Suddenly the ship lurched, the lifeboat rose and Emma fell, grasping the edge of the lifeboat. “Please! Help!” she cried. “Grab my hand!” I called to her. Carefully, she let one hand and grasped my hand. “The other one now!” I called to her. She swung down, with both hands grasping my hands. As I began to help her up, the ship lurched the other way, and I was able to get Emma back on the ship. “Thank you,” she said as she swung her arms around me. “No problem,” I said back. “Miss Emily! Where are you?” called a voice from the far side of the deck. “It’s Frank! My bodyguard! Go hide!” I ran and hid right behind a supporter. “Miss Emily! There you are! Didn’t your father tell you not to stay our after dark?” he asked. He was an ugly creature, very masculine but hairy. “Sorry,” Emma said. “Come on, then.” As Emma walked away, she loosened her shoe and kicked it towards me, and smacked me in the face. “Oh, Frank! I forgot my shoe. You go ahead.” “Alright.” Emma hurried back to me and retrieved her shoe. “You have good aim,” I told her. “Thank you. Now, I want to meet you again, just to talk, so meet me here at 10:00 after breakfast.” As she turned to walk away, she turned back to me and swung her arms around me again. Then she let go and hurried away. After that, I suddenly began to sweat, and my stomach lurched. My face turned bright red and I couldn’t move. I then realized that I had to ask my mom what was happening to me. My Favorite Foods Written by Ryan M. My favorite food is pancakes.
