SG-PSB and SG-PSM: CLEVER SOLUTION FOR “OPEN ROOM” SAFETY
LIGHT CURTAIN MECHANICAL MOUNTING
Datalogic Automation is pleased to announce the introduction of SG-PSB and SG-PSM new accessory protective
stands to be combined with all SG2, SG4, SG BODY BIG, SG BODY REFLECTOR and SG BODY COMPACT safety light
curtains for finger, hand, body protection and access control.
The new SG-PSB and SG-PSM series enhance and improve the previous series SG-PS that’s obsolete starting from 1
September 2011. Two complete new series are now available :

ST
SG-PSB version represents the natural replacement of SG-PS. SG – PSB is a protective aluminium profile
mounted on a steel base made by two plates. Flatness regulation is achieved through 3 grains and spherical
level ball. Angular regulation is achieved in two steps :
o Rough positioning thanks to the grooves on upper plate that are positioned at most common angles
(30, 45, 60, 90 degrees);
o Fine adjustment thanks to 3 eyelets that guarantee ± 10 ° of angular regulation.
Five different models with heights from 600mm to 1900mm are available to fit all SG and SE safety light
curtains series and in case also SG-DM stand-alone mirrors.
By adding SG-P accessory made by an additional squared plate together with 3 load springs the entire system
gains the capability both to recover floor or mounting surface irregularities and to absorb shocks and
vibrations.

SG-PSM version is completely new and integrates into SG-PSB deviating single mirrors already mounted. Four
different models for 2, 3, 4 beams body protection 500, 800, 900 and 1200 mm controlled height whose
mirrors arte positioned according EN-999 standard. Each deviating mirror is tilt independently adjustable
through 3 dedicate screws.
SG-PSB and SG-PSM series guarantees drastically reduces the overall plant costs thanks to is extremely installation
easiness.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Device columns are used where there are problems mounting opto-electronic protective devices. On machining
centres the protective devices must be positioned in the open room. An Entry/Exit system is often used at the gates
for automatic material transport. The robust device columns with the 2 external mounting grooves in combination
with the muting arms, brackets and protective plates ensure straightforward, flexible attachment of the muting
sensors. The combination of multiple light beam safety devices or safety light curtains with deflector mirrors is the
right solution for perimeter protection. The adjustment of the deflector mirrors mounted in sturdy columns is thereby
very straightforward. Here the unhindered access for loading as well as for changing tools and programs is a further
advantage over mechanical fencing. The result is an increase in productivity.

Each SG-PSB order number fits just TX or RX unit. To perform a complete couple TX-RX installation you are supposed

The first production lot of SG-PSB and SG-PSM will be available on stock starting from 1 September 2011.
Please consider valid the attached list price and discounts conditions for SG-PSB and SG-PSM models.
The SG-PSB and SG-PSM models are managed as Class B.
CROSS OVER POLICY
SG-PSB and SG-PSM models ARE ALSO AIMED TO REPLACE EXISTING SG-PS models that will declared obsolete

starting from 1 September 2011.
The main aspect we have to take into consideration is the COMPATIBILITY :
1. Mechanical mounting : SG-PS wasn’t provided with the base so he had always to be combined with SG-SB
model to obtain a double-plate protective stand. Now each SG-PSB is already mounted on a steel base made
by two plates. To transform the set into a double plate + springs set SG-P accessory kit has to be ordered;
2. Dimensions : upright section and profile structure are unchanged. All the heights are the same of SG-PS
except from 900mm that have been increased to 1000mm;
3. Usage: Refer to the attached SG-PSB & SG-PSM vs SG-PS.xls crossover document that explains how to
replace a SG-PS application with new SG-PSB and SG-PSM protective stands.
