Our creative curriculum topic this half term is a whole school topic called ‘Around the World.’ Rivington class will be studying the continent of North America and more specifically, The United
States of America. Below are the homework tasks based on this topic. The children will also receive additional maths/literacy homework where/when we feel it necessary. Please choose 4 or
more of the activities to be completed at any time during, but no later than, the end of the half term. Homework will be marked and house points received as it is returned to school. If
children are using the internet, please don’t allow them to simply copy and paste the work. It needs to be re written in their own words at their level of understanding to be of any use.

Create a model of a famous American landmark e.g. The
Statue of Liberty, New York or The Golden Gate Bridge,
San Francisco:
Using the 3 printed maps to help you, see if you can
commit to memory all the states that make up ‘The
United States of America.’ We will test all children who
attempt this at the end of the topic!
Choose and animal or plant native to North
America and describe and draw its life cycle in
detail.

Want to go to a famous American or Canadian City? Plan
a trip to the city for 2 weeks and say how much the trip
will cost you. You must include the cost of the flights and
who they are with, the hotel and its name and also
budget for food and transport whilst there. Good luck
and don’t forget you need to take an adult!
Write your own story set in America. It could be in a
famous city such as New York, a famous state such as
California, a famous National Park such as Yellowstone
National Park, a famous river such as the Mississippi or
anywhere really.
Sketch/draw/paint a landscape/cityscape/scene
from America.
