NEW YEAR’S EVE FROM 6.30PM GLENELG FORESHORE
THE VOICE’S JOE MOORE + MORE, WITH 2 TONNES OF
CRACKLING DRAGON EGGS, SILVER FISH & SILVER CROWNS
City of Holdfast Bay Mayor, Stephen Patterson says Glo Glenelg’s 2015 free outdoor concert line-up
will make Glenelg the go-to New Year’s Eve destination this year, with The Voice finalist, Sydney-based
Joe Moore headlining an impressive list of Adelaide-based performers and three amazing fireworks
displays set to thrill crowds.
“As well as the unbeatable attraction of seeing spectacular fireworks displays off the Glenelg Jetty, we
have a tremendous line-up of acts at our family-friendly Glo Glenelg celebrations on the Glenelg
Foreshore this year, so Glenelg really will be the go-to New Year’s Eve event,” Mayor Patterson said.
“Last year our New Year’s Eve event drew a crowd of more than 35,000 people to Glenelg and we’re
sure that, with Joe Moore as our headline act, we’ll once again see a fantastic gathering to usher in the
New Year at Glenelg. Joe has won legions of fans with his recent success on The Voice, and his album
debuted at Number 5 on the ARIA Charts, so he’ll be a major drawcard.”
Adelaide Hills-based trio, the Germein Sisters (who have recently supported Sting and Paul Simon);
popular Adelaide cover band, the Attack; MC/DJ Jaki J and a kids’ DJ will get everyone up and dancing
from 6.30pm, before Joe Moore takes the stage and fireworks light up the sea and sky.
“The fantastic fireworks off Glenelg Jetty at 9.30pm and midnight will, once again, be synchronised
with music by radio station Nova 91.9, and if you’re after a cosier celebration, you can get down to
Brighton Beach for the family-friendly 9.30pm fireworks off Brighton Jetty,” Mayor Patterson said.
Mark Petkidis, Manager (SA & NT) of Howard and Son’s Pyrotechnics, says, this year, two tonnes of
fireworks featuring around 5,000 individual shots will be fired from Glenelg and Brighton jetties –
including some fabulous new fireworks products.
“If you’re watching the 9.30pm displays at Glenelg and Brighton, you’ll see around 2,000 shots
shooting high into the night sky, while the midnight display at Glenelg will feature somewhere near
3,000 shots,” Mr Petkidis said.
“This year we’re featuring new products, including the spectacular new Z Fans, which have a large fan
shape that will shoot from one side to the other and fill the sky with a brightly coloured brocade. Our
aerial shells will feature a huge range of effects, from Crackling Dragon Eggs, Silver Fish and Bow Ties
right through to Glittering Chrysanthemums with coloured pistil and sky-filling Silver Crowns.”
Mr Petkidis said the displays at each site are synchronised with Nova 919’s “upbeat” soundtrack, and
allocating the individual shot numbers and firing positions takes a 10-strong crew up to four days.

Mayor Patterson says, as always, safety is the top priority for crowds attending the event, with a
$30,000 grant from the State Government supporting the City of Holdfast Bay in organising “a wellplanned, well-run, safe event”.
“The City of Holdfast Bay is working closely with traders, SA Police and emergency services as we
prepare for the event and we’ll be in close contact throughout the night. Our dry zones are in place in
all reserves, along the foreshores, in Moseley Square and throughout Glenelg, and our traffic
management plan features speed limits modifications and road closures in key areas,” he said.
The ‘RAA Park and Ride’ Car Park, introduced in 2014 in partnership with the RAA, will return, allowing
safer, hassle-free parking at nearby Harbour Town with a FREE shuttle bus running to Glenelg every 20
minutes.
