Pajama Day!
On February 14, MSOL students can wear their pajamas
to school if they bring a new
pair of pajamas for charity.
New pajamas, with tags still
attached, will be collected
and donated to Guardian
Angel Community Services in
Joliet.
This year, the organization is
requesting pajamas for women and children in all sizes.
Pajama Day is one our annual
philanthropic events that
provides a way for even our
youngest students to learn
the importance of helping
those in need.

Valentine’s Day is on Tuesday, February 14 and students are welcome to bring
Valentines to exchange with
their classmates. Please do
not send edible treats due to
allergies students may have.
Our primary staff asks that
students sign, but not address their Valentines (to
avoid frustration among our
emergent readers).
On Valentine’s Day, Upper
Elementary and Adolescent
students will go roller skating
at the Family Fun Zone.
Pajamas optional!
Lemont Loves the Arts show
will be held from 6:30-8:00 on
February 16 at St. Cyril’s pm.
Art work of Pre-K through
8th grade students from Lemont schools will be judged and
on display.
The theme of this year’s competition is Bring Your Book to
Life. Entries are accepted in
five categories plus creative
writing. Please bring a book
to donate to the Hope &
Friendship Foundation.
The LLA competition will not
be held in 2018 and will resume in 2019.

The recently formed FFA
committee had a great kick
off meeting with staff from
all levels attending. Parents
from each building have
volunteered to serve on the
committee that will work
together to transform the
2,000 sq. ft. basement in the
Adolescent building into a
multipurpose space for all
students.
Especially in these frigid
winter months, our students
need an indoor space for
safe, vigorous physical
education when
temperatures are too
extreme to use our natural
playground.
With a little creative
design, the space can
accommodate our staff and
after school specialists who
teach art, music, drama and
yoga.

Our ambitious vision
involves demolition of
existing walls, rewiring the

installation of a wall of

this exciting project please

application of concepts at all

Chicago Symphony Orchestra
On February 10, students in
Kindergarten through 5th
grade will take a field trip to
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to hear Strauss’ Don
Quixote.

Don Quixote, written by
Miguel de Cervantes, is a
story about an eccentric,
middle aged gentleman that
pursues his dreams of becoming a knight. Don Quixote embarks on hysterical
adventures with his sidekick
Sancho Panza.
In 1897 Richard Strauss
transformed this inspiring
story of perseverance into a
symphonic masterpiece that
still resonates today.

The Montessori School of Lemont is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has been educating children ages 3 through 8th grade for 35 years based on the methods and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. The school was established in 1979 by teachers dedicated to offering families an individualized
educational approach for their children. The school relocated to Lemont in 1990. In 2001, the school
moved to its permanent location after the construction of a new campus on 7.5 acres of donated
land. In 2010, a third was completed to accommodate the growing enrollment and in 2011, a
“natural” playground and an organic community garden were created. Funds are currently being
raised to improve and grow our campus.
MSOL does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin.

Thursday, February 2nd
Join us for coffee and stay
for a few years!
Have you ever questioned who,
what, why, when or how? If so
then join us on March 3, when
the Upper Elementary and
Adolescent students host our
annual science fair. Some of
your questions may get answered!
Students determine their own
questions, which must be
measureable, and conduct research for weeks leading up to
the fair. Math, language, science and social studies skills
are all applied as they observe,
measure, experiment, formulate and test hypothesis before
preparing and giving a presentation on their findings to their
peers and parents.
This annual event challenges
our older students to deepen
their understanding of a topic
of their choice. All families are
welcome to attend this event
after school on March 3. Kindergarten and Lower Elementary students will be the guinea
pigs for a test run of presentations during the school day!
