VikingFest 2016 The Mayan Ball Game

Upcoming Events
The Mayan Ball Game

The students in Mr. Barnes 5th grade class have been studying ancient
cultures of North and South America. As part of their studies the
students have focused on what these civilizations do for recreation.
The Mayan culture had a sport called The Mayan Ball Game. The
students tried to play the game which uses only feet, and found that it
required a lot of skill. They had fun even though it was tougher than
they expected.

Miami County Children’s Services was
very appreciative of all the hats,
scarves, gloves and socks that
were donated by Miami East
Students during the
holiday season. Mrs.
Dillon coordinated
the collecting efforts
and was impressed
with the amount
of clothing that was
donated. As you can
see from the picture, the
Miami East family went
above and beyond to make
the holidays a little warmer
for those in need.
