1. RULES
This Series shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the proscriptions of
US Sailing, the Carrie Series Rules as on the SCYYRA Website, the USODA Class Rules, this Notice of Series
and the Sailing Instructions issued by each host venue.
2. ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority (OA).
3. ELIGIBILITY, ENTRY & FEES
3.1. The SCYYRA Carrie Series is open to International Optimist Dinghy class boats.
3.2. All competitors must have been born on or after January 1, 2002.
3.3. Participants must be members of a current SCYYRA organization to be eligible for the SCYYRA Carrie
Series Perpetual Trophy.
3.4. Entries for the 2016–2017 Carrie Series must be submitted online at www.scyyra.org/carrie.
3.5. The Carrie Series entry fee is $30.00. This fee includes a Series souvenir for each skipper.
3.6. Participants may enter the 2016–2017 Carrie Series no later than the start of the first race of the last day of
the second Regatta. Participants entering any regatta after the first two will not be scored for the Series.
3.7. An entry with each individual host club must also be completed for each individual regatta in accordance
with the Notice of Race for each event.
4. CLASS MEMBERSHIP
Series participants must be USODA members in good standing. Join/renew at www.usoda.org.

6. SCORING
6.1. The Low Point system of Appendix A will apply with the following modifications:
6.2. Series scoring shall be based on the official results of each race tabulated only against other Series entrants.
6.3. Throw out races will be incorporated into the Series scoring with the following formulas:
If 11–15 races are completed, there will be 1 throw out race.
If 16–20 races are completed, there will be 2 throw out races.
If 21–25 races are completed, there will be 3 throw out races.
If 25–30 races are completed, there will be 4 throw out races.
If 31–35 races are completed, there will be 5 throw out races.
If 36 or more races are completed, there will be 6 throw out races.

6.4. Sail number changes in any regatta must be reported to and approved by the Series Chairman (or
representative) and reported to the race committee prior to the skippers meeting for that Regatta for those
races to be scored in the Series.
6.5. In regards to series scoring, decisions of the jury or protest committee are final.
7. TROPHIES
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the Series:
7.1. The SCYYRA Carrie Series Perpetual Trophy shall be awarded at the end of the last event of the series to
the junior who has the lowest cumulative point score for the scheduled regattas using the scoring system
explained above. The name of the winner shall be inscribed on the perpetual trophy. The perpetual trophy
shall be kept for that year in the Yacht Club of the winning skipper. If the club does not have adequate
facilities to retain the trophy, it shall then reside at a place determined by the SCYYRA Board of Directors.
7.2. Take-home trophies shall be awarded to the top number of finishers in the series.
7.3. In accordance with USODA’s policy trophies are not awarded in green fleet. The purpose of the green fleet is
to encourage novice sailors. Green fleet registrants will receive a Series souvenir.
