EXT. STREET - DAY Jack is looking at a girl. Linus approaches. JACK Linus, let me ask you a question. You see that girl over there? I’m talking about the dark-haired girl by the hot dog cart, about fivefive, wearing a red blouse. LINUS There’s only one girl there. JACK Yeah, that’s her. So I’m standing here minding my own business, and she looks over and smiles. Like this. Jack smiles a coy smile. JACK (CONT’D) What do you think that means? LINUS She has gas? JACK That’s what I thought, but then I smile back, and she laughs and shakes her hair a little. That totally kicks it up a notch, right? When they shake their hair? LINUS Yeah, that’s a whole different deal. JACK Exactly. So then I laugh and shake my hair. But that seemed to confuse her, and now she’s just standing there again, not looking at me. CONTINUED: JACK (CONT'D) That’s gonna be a terrible story to tell my grandkids. LINUS There’s only one thing to do now. JACK A thousand sit-ups? LINUS No. Talk to her. JACK You’re right. I can’t let one stupid gesture ruin my destiny. I’ll just have to let her know the real me. Suave. Cool. Charming. (YELLS) Hey! You! I love you! (THEN, TO LINUS) Why do you suppose she’s running away? Linus shrugs. Jack shakes his head.
