PUBLIC CAR PARK USER REGULATIONS
MONTPELLIER MEDITERRANEE AIRPORT
Law enforcement measures taken by the Prefectural By-law n° 2010/01/1984, June 21,
2010 relative to police measures applicable at Montpellier Méditerranée Airport.
Article 1 – DEFINITION
The following car parks, to which access is restricted subject to payment, situated at Montpellier
Méditerranée Airport are designated as public car parks open subject to commercial air traffic.
Car Park P2: “Short Stay” car park, for very short and short stay parking. Tariffs according to the
price index (recommended period 0 to 2 days).
Car Park P3: “Medium Stay” car park for short and medium stay parking. Tariffs according to the
price index (recommended period 1 to 3 days.)
Car Park P4: “Long Stay” car park for medium to long stay parking. Tariffs according to the price
index (recommended period 2 to 15 days.)
Car Park P6: “Long Stay or Very Long Stay” car park for medium to long stay parking. Tariffs
according to the price index (recommended period 2 to 15 days or more.)
The Car Park Office is located on the lower ground floor of Car Park P2.
Article 2 - GENERAL
All car parking in the public car parks is subject to the present User Regulations in compliance with the
Prefectural By-Law relative to police measures applicable at Montpellier Méditerranée Airport unless
otherwise expressly and formally requested by Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA.
Any request to park, established by the fact that a vehicle has entered or is immobilised in the public
car park, even temporarily, signifies that the present regulations have been unconditionally accepted.
Article 3 – CIRCULATION AND MANOEUVRING IN THE CAR PARKS

3.1. Any circulating of traffic, manoeuvring, parking, dropping off and picking up of passengers in the
vicinity of the car parks is entirely at the risk and responsibility of users, vehicle owners or their proxies.
3.2. Users are responsible for any accidents causing bodily harm and all damage which they may
cause to movable or fixed property in the public car parks.
3.3. In the event of an accident occurring regarding the facilities, the person in charge is required to
report it immediately in writing to Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA, as well as to its insurance
company.
3.4. Pursuant to section 15 of the Prefectural By-law, June 21, 2010, the circulation and manoeuvring
of vehicles within the public car parks is subject to the provisions of the Highway Code. In this respect,
the speed limit is restricted to 15 km per hour and users are required to respect the arrows indicating
the direction of traffic circulation and rules resulting from the implementation of regulatory
signalisation, both vertical and horizontal.
3.5. Users must keep their parking tickets with them.
Article 4 – PARKING
4.1. Parking Conditions:
Vehicles must be parked correctly in the parking spaces provided for this purpose indicated by ground
marking. All vehicles must be locked.
Parking outside the designated areas is forbidden particularly on pedestrian crossings and in front of
traffic barriers, emergency exits, fire doors and fire fighting equipment. All vehicles illegally parked will
be subject to a fine and immediate impoundment, pursuant to Article L325-1 Paragraph 1 of the
Highway Code.
In the event of vehicles being incorrectly parked in the designated parking spaces or should the
necessity arise, following previously scheduled road works or in the case of an accident involving the
removal of vehicles, Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA reserves the right to displace vehicles at the
owners' risk, without the aforementioned or one of its agents being held responsible.
In the case of necessity (repair works, cleaning), vehicles may be displaced by Montpellier
Méditerranée Airport SA.
Any vehicle parked in areas designated as car park exits remains subject to the provisions of the
Highway Code regarding regular implantation of signalisation relative to restricted or dangerous
parking (Article R 417-12 and R 417-13 of the Highway Code). Consequently any vehicle illegally
parked could be subject to impoundment.
4.2. Parking Duration
Without the express agreement of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA, parking duration may not
exceed 30 days, with the exception of very long-term parking. After this date the procedures
provided in Articles L 325-9 and L 325-12 of the Highway Code will be applied.
4.3. Motorcycles, Scooters and Bicycles
Bicycles and mopeds with engines of less than 125 cc are not authorised to park in the car parks. Two
wheeled vehicles with engines of more than 125 cc are subject to the same regulations and parking
tariff as cars. They must park in the designated areas reserved for this purpose and in no other
location.

4.4. Reserved Parking Areas
In the car parks the following areas are reserved:
-
Reduced Mobility Parking:

Car Park P2 - 1 floor: 12 reserved parking spaces

Car Park P3: 4 reserved parking spaces

Car Park P4: 15 reserved parking spaces

Car Park P6: 7 reserved parking spaces

Taxis and chauffeur driven vehicles:

Car Park P2 -1st floor: 12 reserved parking spaces

All unauthorised parking is strictly forbidden and will be prosecuted.
Article 5 – HEALTH AND SAFETY
5.1: It is forbidden:

For pedestrians to use entrances and exits reserved for vehicles. Pedestrians must use the
stairs, the lifts reserved for persons of reduced mobility and pedestrian walkways provided for
their use;

To fill up petrol tanks in the vicinity of the car parks or to carry out any maintenance, repair or
cleaning work;

To pour or spill any greasy, inflammable or corrosive liquids in the vicinity of the car parks. In
the event of accidental spillage any expenses for cleaning or repair work will be charged to the
user concerned, once the incident has been previously determined by the personnel;

To use alarms in the vicinity of the car parks except in the case of immediate danger;

To allow animals to stray;

To use any equipment or facilities reserved for the use of personnel in charge of the upkeep of
the car park;

To leave engines running, particularly in underground or enclosed car parks, for the purpose
of using the heating or air conditioning systems;

To make use of any products or facilities reserved for personnel in charge of cleaning;

To conduct any type of business or collect money, propose any service which has not been
authorised by the airport authorities, or conduct any form of publicity in particular the
distribution of flyers.

To throw away cigarettes, matches or burning debris.
In the event of danger, use the intercom telephones located on the automatic payment machines
or notify the car park staff directly.
5.2: Users are responsible for any accidents causing bodily harm or any damage they might cause to
fixtures or property in the public car parks.

5.3: In the event of a traffic barrier being broken, all expenses regarding the cost of repair or
replacement will be charged to the user as stated in paragraph 3.2
5.4: Motor vehicle access to the lower ground car park (P2) is subject to the legislation for official
environmental protection facilities, which prohibits all vehicles using liquefied petroleum gases in their
engines, if the reservoir is not fitted with a safety valve.
5.5: In addition please be reminded that in compliance with police regulations it is forbidden to leave
the following in vehicles: rags soaked in oil or grease, flammable or explosive materials, oil or petrol
outside the reservoir.
5.6. In the event of evacuation initiated by an agent of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA, users
must comply with evacuation instructions. An assembly point is located outside the P2 car park
near the automatic payment machines.
Article 6 - ENTRY AND EXIT
6.1. Entry
Entry into the public car parks is automated and is carried out by:
- The user withdrawing a date and time stamped parking ticket at the entry terminal as the vehicle
enters the car park.
or
- The user inserting his membership or loyalty card issued by Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA as
the vehicle enters the car park.
Any one of these three actions triggers the automatic opening of the entrance barrier.
6.2. Exit
Exit from the public car parks is automated and subject to prior payment of the parking period.
Exit from the public car parks is carried out by:
- Presenting the parking ticket at the automatic payment machines and paying in cash or by credit
card, or by going to the payment office to pay in cash, by cheque or credit card. This ticket is then
inserted into the exit terminal and removed to allow the exit of the vehicle. The ticket will serve as
proof of payment,
or
- Inserting the parking ticket directly into the exit terminal to pay with a credit card. The amount owing
for the period of parking stay is displayed on the terminal which delivers a receipt for payment. This
sum is then debited in the usual manner as for credit cards.
or
- Inserting the same loyalty card directly into the exit terminal a second time. The amount owed for the
period of parking stay is displayed on the terminal which delivers a receipt for payment. This amount is
then debited as for a normal credit card.
or
- Inserting this same membership card issued by the Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA directly into
the exit terminal a second time.

Article 7 – USER CHARGES
In accordance with article 16 of the Prefectural By-law, June 21, 2010, parking in the public car
parks and all other related services is charged according to the rates in force. These charges
are part of the regulations and are set by the Management of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport
SA. They are revised yearly.
Fees are charged according to the duration of the parked vehicle and the tariffs are individual for each
vehicle. The rates in practice are displayed at all respective entry points. Payment is made on delivery;
loans, invoicing or any deferred payment are not accepted.
In the event of a change in the tariff, it is the date of entry into the car park and not the date of exit
which determines the amount owed.
Charges must be paid before leaving the car park.
In the absence of means of payment, the user agrees to leave ID in the custody of Montpellier
Méditerranée Airport SA until settlement of the debt at which time the ID will be returned.
In the event that the user refuses to leave his ID in the custody of Montpellier Méditerranée
Airport SA the exit barriers will not be opened due to non payment of parking fees. In the event
that the vehicle is left in the car park for a period exceeding one month, the user incurs the risk
of impoundment.
In the event of non compliance with the terms of payment, billing and administrative recovery fees may
be charged in accordance with the ruling following the decision of the Management of Montpellier
Méditerranée Airport SA according to the regulations in force.
Article 8 - RESPONSIBILITES – EXCLUSIONS
8.1: Montpellier Méditerranée Airport Responsibility
The public car parks are not under surveillance. Any cameras present are solely reserved for the
usage of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA.
In the case of deterioration, accident, fire or theft in the vicinity of the public car parks, Montpellier
Méditerranée Airport SA will not be held responsible. Parking is at the risk of vehicle owners. The
sums received correspond to parking charges only. These charges do not cover surveillance or
security.
In the event of force majeur Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA may not be held responsible.
8.2: User Responsibility
Within the limits of the car park, the user is solely responsible for any accident or damage of any
nature, physical or material which, due to negligence, clumsiness, malicious intent or failure to observe
the present regulations, he might cause to a third party, to vehicles or facilities or to the property.
The responsibility of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport can under no circumstance be evoked.
In the event of an accident, the user is required to inform the airport staff as well as his/her insurance
company immediately.
Article 9 – LOSS OF TICKET, CREDIT CARD, MEMBERSHIP OR LOYALTY CARD
In the event of a lost parking ticket, the user must go to the Car Park Office, present his boarding card
and provide the date and time of his arrival in the car park. If the user is unable to prove the duration of

the parking term he will be charged a minimum of 24 hours parking fee, according to the tariffs in force
in the car park concerned. Under no circumstances can the parking tariff be reimbursed.
In the event of a lost or forgotten loyalty card used at the time of the vehicle's entry into the car park,
the user must go to the Car Park Office and provide his card number. Having retrieved the record of
card insertion at the entrance terminal, another card can be issued with a new code and the standard
tariff can be applied.
In the event of a lost membership card used at the time of the vehicle's entry into the car park, the
user must go to the Car Park Office for verification that the card has been inserted at the entrance
terminal. A new membership card can then be issued with a new code.
In the event that the user cannot provide the number of his credit card, the procedure is identical to
that applied to a lost ticket.
Article 10 – LITIGATION MANAGEMENT
In the event that payment of parking charges by any means of payment including credit cards, should
lead to a complaint made by the user, the aforementioned must address this complaint in writing to
Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA for the attention of: Service Parcs Autos de l'Aéroport Montpellier
- Méditerranée. He must complete a complaints form and attach a photocopy of all relevant
documentation supporting his complaint (proof of the period of parking, payment receipts, a copy of
relevant bank statement showing the amount debited...)
The user may only contest the parking fee once the sum has been paid in total. In the event that the
contestation is justified Montpellier Méditerranée Airport SA will proceed to reimburse the user for any
sums that have been overcharged.
Article 11 – SANCTIONS
In compliance with section 16 of the Prefectoral By-law, June 21, 2010, it is possible to proceed, at the
offenders' risk, with the removal of illegally parked vehicles, as provided for in sections 4.1 and 4.2 of
the present regulations.
Article 12 – APPLICABLE LAW - JURISDICTION
Any dispute concerning the usage of the public car parks will be by express agreement between the
parties, subject to French law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Montpellier, as the
designated location, notwithstanding plurality of defendants or third parties. This provision also applies
in emergency proceedings.
Article 13 - ADVERTISING
The present regulations are available to users in the Car Park Office located on the lower ground floor
of Car Park P2.
Article 14 - AMENDMENTS
Any amendments, whether temporary or permanent of these Regulations will be expressed in memo
form and displayed. The present Regulations will be re-published periodically, according to
requirements.
