All fish must be speared the weekend of the tournament, May 20th and 21st.
The Lion-Tamer is a two-day tournament open for spearfishing from Saturday at 12:01 AM to weighin on Sunday at 4:00 PM. No fish may be harvested prior to Saturday (the day of the tournament)
and must be presented in a manner that is consistent with a fish harvested on the same day of the
tournament. All fish must be preserved on ice prior to weigh-in. Weigh-in Master has the right to
refuse any fish deemed ineligible for these purposes.
Each fish can only be counted in one category.
There will be twelve prizes awarded, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each of the 4 categories.
One purpose of the Lion Tamer Tournament is to spread the awareness of the invasive lionfish.
Therefore,we created the "Venom Vase" raffle pot as an additional incentive for divers to turn in
their fish to the tournament. Participants will receive one ticket per pound of lionfish donated for
a chance to win a speargun. Each ticket will be put in the venom vase for an opportunity to win
one of the spearguns. All donated fish will be cooked onsite to educate the public to its potential
as a delicious food source. The effort will help create Increased demand for these fish and
ultimately benefit the divers when selling the fish to the local fish markets.

There will be no ties, first fish weighed wins in case of same weight.
All divers must follow safe diving practices and dive within your limits.
All divers must follow FWC fishing regulations.
Each individual diver will weigh in only the fish they harvested. There are no teams in the
tournament.
The Lionfish tournament is an honor system tournament with all registrants being responsible for
compliance with the rules.
Anyone found violating tournament rules by the tournament officials will be disqualified from
receiving any tournament prizes and prohibited from entry in any future tournaments.
Divers may begin to weigh in anytime between 1 & 4 p.m., Sunday, May 21st. Divers must be at the
scales by 4:00, Sunday, May 21st to participate in the weigh in. The weigh in will take place at
Captain Anderson’s Marina.
$25 Tournament entrance fee can be purchased in advance at, and will also be available to
purchase at the safety meeting, Friday, May 19th.
Shirts can be picked up at the safety briefing.
A safety briefing and fish fry will be held FRIDAY, May 19, 2017 at 6:00pm, at Captain Anderson’s Marina.
All divers in tournament and the Captain of the boat are encouraged to attend.
Registration and Waiver:
By signing below, tournament entrants accept the following conditions:
I am over the age of 18. If not, my entry in this tournament is authorized in writing by my legal guardian. Participants enter
the tournament at their own risk. Capt. Anderson’s Marina, Diver’s Den, Inc., Panama City Diving, Dive Locker, Panama
City Dive Center and their members, officials, committee members and all person directly or indirectly connected with the
tournament shall be exempt from any liability for loss, damage, negligence, harm, or injury to any participant, entrant,
spear fisherman, his companions, boat captain, crew members, vessels and equipment, which may occur during
registration or during the tournament.
By completing the tournament application, the participant acknowledges that such recording become the property of
tournament organizers and gives tournament organizers consent to use without payment or restriction any photography,
video, or audio recording in which any participant may appear, for any purpose whatsoever, in regard to but not limited to
advertising and promotional material.
I hereby acknowledge that I am aware of the dangers involved in boating, breath-hold diving, scuba diving, handling all
types of fish and spear fishing. I am aware that these activities require physical exertion and stress. I am participating in
these activities with the full knowledge of, and the acceptance of all the risks these activities entail, and the dangers
involved. I am voluntarily participating in this tournament. I willingly agree to accept the risk of injury, disability, physical
and/or emotional suffering, property damage and/or death to others and myself.
The designated days of spear fishing constitutes a complete tournament. In the event of inclement weather any part of the
tournament may be canceled, postponed, or continued. All participants and boat shall exercise good sportsmanship and
courtesy whether at the dock, underway, or spear fishing. Any participant that violates federal or state law will be
disqualified. If the tournament is canceled for any reason beyond the control of tournament organizers, entrants will be
refunded a prorated share of their entrance fees at the discretion of the tournament committee. No refund will be made
after the official start of the tournament. Payment of any entry fee and completion of tournament application form
constitutes that entrant has read and fully understands the tournament rules, that he/she shall abide by such rules and the
decisions of the tournament committees.

Each person that signs below is affirming that he/she has read this complete Waiver and agrees to ASSUME
ALL THE RISKS INVOLVED in this activity. Furthermore, by signing, the participant states that he/she
understands this Liability Waiver, agrees to its terms and signs of his/her own free will.
I agree that the sponsors of the Lionfish Tournament may use photographs of me (or my child if participant is a
minor) with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity,
illustration, advertising, and Web content.
