Perceptions of the Devil
Read through the following Bible passages carefully & note down what impression we
get of the Devil from each one.
John 8:44 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's
desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no
truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of
lies.
1 John 3:8-10 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sin8
ning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's
work. 9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him;
he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10This is how we know who the
children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is
right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a

roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind
of sufferings
Matthew 4:8-9 8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all
the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you
will bow down and worship me."
Revelation 20:1-31And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the
Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent,
who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3He threw him into the
Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore
until the thousand years were ended.
2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that

they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
What impression of the Devil do we get from these Bible passages?
