THE BIG QUESTION (To discuss in your KDG’s) 1. Why did God send us the Holy Spirit? 2. What is life like when we try and live without the help of the Holy Spirit? 3. How can the Holy Spirit help us every day? ACTIVITY SHEETS Children complete the Activity Sheets in this time. THE BIG ACTIVITY Purpose: To remind the children that they are never alone. Directions: Give each child a deflated balloon and discuss the uselessness of a balloon without air. Encourage children to blow up their balloons, and remind them that when the balloon is filled with air it has the power to be very useful and fulfil its purpose. Now have a couple of children attempt to blow up modelling balloons (unless they have very strong lungs it will be impossible). Using the pump, inflate the balloon easily and talk about the help that the Holy Spirit can be to us. Explanation: In the same way, when people are filled with the Holy Spirit they have the power to do BIG things for God. Play a game of air volleyball or draw faces on your balloon just for fun. THE BIG WORD Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy He has given us a new birth and a hope that is alive. It is alive because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 (NIRV) GAME Shoe Game Everybody takes off one shoe and places it in a pile on the floor. On ‘GO’ everyone has to grab a shoe from the pile, find the person with the matching shoe on their foot and find out three things about them (e.g. what month they were born in, how many brothers or sisters they have, favourite thing about Jesus, etc.). This is fun because everyone is trying to find someone while someone is trying to find them. After everyone has found the owner of their shoe and has asked the questions, seat the children and ask them to share with the rest of the group about the person they met. PRAYER Thank you Lord that we are never alone. Thank you that you have given us your Holy Spirit to guide us and be our helper.
