A Message from Principal Lanczycki
Welcome New Blue Raiders.
Your new home is ready for you to explore. Here at Somerset Berkley we avail you to an opportunity to
find yourself and your future. Our faculty and facility are second to none. They are here to challenge you
to be the best version of you that you can be. Take advantage of their supports when times get tough by
advocating for yourself.
Students have a plethora of options for extracurricular activities. There is something for everyone. If
there is a new idea for a club, come down and see me in the main office and we can figure out how to
make it happen. New friends are cultivated through these activities. Make moments and memories that
will last a lifetime.
High School happens fast. Blink and it’s over. Work hard, dream big and hold on. You are about to have
one heck of a ride.

Expectations
Welcome from Ms. Brelsford
Welcome to Somerset Berkley!
We are eager to get started on your four year journey! As freshmen, most of you have no idea what you want
to do when you “grow up,” and, chances are, you will leave here in four years still not knowing. That’s ok and,
in fact, perfectly normal! I urge you over the next four years to try classes or extra-curricular activities that you
haven’t tried before and make the most of your time here. It goes by fast!
I also urge you to be kind to one another. The world is not an easy place to grow up in these days. Let SBRHS
be a safe haven for you and your classmates to grow, learn, and journey into young adulthood. As classmates,
do your best to pick each other up and avoid negativity. Be positive and productive members of our school
community.
Think, grow, and challenge yourselves to learn. As Winnie the Pooh says, “You’re braver than you believe,
and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”. I look forward to meeting you very soon.
Ms. Brelsford
Welcome from Mrs. DoCouto
Welcome to the Raider Family!
You have finally arrived and the teachers and staff are excited to meet you! Over the next four years you will be
given the tools, support, and opportunities to become a successful member of the community. It is your responsibility to be committed to your academic achievements. It starts with being on time to school and being an active
participant in all of your classes. Take advantage of the Homework Club, a free tutoring program held in the library.
It’s a great resource we offer to all students and you attend the club on an as needed basis.
Immerse yourself in the wide variety of extra –curricular activities we offer at SB. Getting involved is a great way to
meet friends and explore new interests.
As your Assistant Principal, I look forward to meeting you and starting this four-year journey with you. If you have
any questions, feel free to stop by or e-mail me at [email protected]. It will be incredible how fast the years
will fly by, so jump right in and make your mark. I can’t wait to see all that the class of 2020 accomplishes!

Our Focus on the Prevention of Bullying
At Somerset Berkley Regional High School, teachers, support staff and administration consider bullying and harassment to be serious distractions from the teaching and learning process. Our mission is to foster a safe, secure, and healthy academic environment where we tolerate and revere the uniqueness of each other. With that stated, instances of bullying and/or harassment must be brought to the attention of a
teacher, school adjustment counselor, and/or administrator.
The following represents a summary of the Bullying Policy as stated in the 2016-17 Student Handbook:
Bullying is defined as an act of aggression with the intent to cause embarrassment, pain or discomfort to another. Bullying may include
physical bullying, verbal bullying and/or extortion. Bullying is considered a serious offense. Be advised that administration will consider
the following options in disciplining a bully:

1-10 day out of school suspension

Parental notification/conference

Possible police referral
As with all matters, the need for support from home is vital when dealing with the issues of current-day bullying. The Internet, Facebook,
Chatrooms, Twitter, etc. pose new cyber bullying threats to our students that must be closely monitored from home. Below are links
