The Scholastic Clay Target Program gives me many
opportunities to better myself and my shooting abilities.
This program also has great coaches and mentors that
help me better my abilities by giving me great advice.
SCTP coaches are very involved with the shooters and
have given me many shooting opportunities. Working
with them has broadened my knowledge and challenged
me to be a better shooter. SCTP has helped direct my
shooting career path and guided me to make smart

I have a deep love for trapshooting, but skeet and
sporting clays are icing on the cake. Skeet and Sporting
Clays are interesting and very fun to me. Shooting has
changed how I look at life, and my success in it has given
me confidence in all other areas of life. SCTP is an
excellent program which combines the three major
disciplines of clay target shooting. Other than the
mixture of events, I also love the time I get to spend
with old friends and new found friends. I can shoot until
the end of my life, unlike other sports. These are the
things that I like most about the Scholastic Clay Target
Program.

Participating in SCTP has had a tremendous impact on
my life and the person I have become over the past four
years. It has become my favorite sport and has taught
me a lot about gun safety, and I was introduced to a
sport that I can continue after I am out of school. When
I first started trap, I was very nervous and even wanted
to meet with the coach during a separate practice time
until I learned what I was doing. Through the sport of
trap shooting I have met some of my best friends and
have had some of the best coaches I could have asked
for. Everyone has helped me with trapshooting and has
been so very encouraging and has had so much faith in
me. Some of my favorite times this past summer were
at ATA events because the people competing were so
welcoming and were very excited to see the high
schoolers do well. I plan to compete on the club team
at college and am very thankful for the opportunities I
have had through trap shooting and the people I have
met.

state of Iowa. The SCTP introduced me to a sport I can

What are the things that I enjoy most about the
scholastic shooting program? First, I enjoy all the
friendships that I have built. I have made so many
friends through this program. Next, I have gained
confidence and responsibility. There’s a lot of
responsibility in the scholastic shooting program such as
making sure you have your equipment cleaned and
prepared, being ready to shoot, and have your coaches
be able to trust you so they can focus on the shooter
not on you. Also, I love to shoot. I get to shoot and be
competitive every week. Finally, I have improved on my
accuracy. I know how I was when I first started I wasn't
all the accurate but now I can see how much more
accurate I am now compared to then. Since I'm more
accurate now I'm faster. Obviously, there are a lot to
love about this program.

all sports do that). It provides opportunity for
scholarships for kids to go to college and keep

The SCTP provides an organized, safe, fun environment
for school aged youth to participate in a target shooting
competition that may not be provided by their local
school district. It provides an opportunity for kids my
age who may not be into an organized school sport such
as football, basketball, ect...that are more interested in
the outdoors, hunting and shooting activities an
opportunity to compete with others with similar
interests. It teaches responsibility, respect for others,
respect for guns and how they are properly used. What
other sport can you set a $10,000 specialty piece of
equipment down, walk away to visit with friends come
back 15 minutes later and it still be sitting there. That's
the respect that is taught. You don't need to have an
expensive gun either. I started out with a inexpensive
single shot shotgun. You don't need to have the best of
everything to trap shoot and the people don't make you
feel that way either.

American Trap
What I like the most about the SCTP is that I am able to
improve my shooting skills while making good friends. I
like to be able to meet people that like the same things I
do. The SCTP organizes events that I can compete in,
doing the sport that I love. Shooting trap has improved
my mental strength and has kept me focused on my
grades. The shooting etiquette that I have learned from
my coaches keeps me safe no matter where I shoot. I
have more confidence in myself because I am a shooter
for the BHS Demons Shooting Team and a member of
the SCTP.

I really enjoy shooting and seeing how fast and accurate
I can be. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of better my
times on each and every stage. I enjoy helping my team
to better themselves with their times as well as mine.

What I like most about the SCTP / SASP:
I enjoy being able to push myself at high speeds, and
have the ability to control a handgun safely. I also enjoy
being able to experience the team camaraderie that is
developed, but I most enjoy being the only girl on my
team and proving myself against the boys.

The SCTP is a great shooting foundation. I've been
shooting in SCTP shoots for many years. Because of the
SCTP I have many unforgettable memories with my
team mates and coaches. I like being able to shoot in a
team environment.

What I like most about the SCTP / SASP:
I love shooting. I loved shooting before I shot SASP. But
shooting SASP has made me a real shooter. I have had
to refine my hand position, every one of my motions
and actions, how I use my trigger finger, what my sight
picture must be... Every few weeks, I analyze how I
shoot to figure out where and how I can improve by
another second or two. I am now conscious of many
aspects of the shooting motion that I had never paid
attention to. But this is what makes me such a better
shooter. I would never have reached this stage without
shooting SASP. This is a great sport!
