On March 18, 2017 Robert Schroeder receives the "Schallwelle Award" in Bochum
(Germany) for his life work. In 1979 he has started with his sensational debut album
Harmonic Ascendant, which was published by Klaus Schulze on his IC-label. Just
in time for the award ceremony in March 2017 Robert's 36th solo album VELOCITY
will be released at Spheric Music.
VELOCITY is the result of almost forty years of musical development by the Aachen
musician. This album provides an EM with new and fresh impressions, which even
arouses the attention of hardcore Schroeder fans who are already familiar with some
of his extravagant excursions. It will be a delightful surprise.
VELOCITY is very "electronic", experimental and quite varying. The 7 instrumental
tracks of the 64-minute album are sequencer-based and, as usual, featured with
Schroeder-typical exciting atmospheres and magnificent synthesizer solos. Robert
has already pursued the new orientation "back to the roots" for a few years and has
now come a long way closer to achieving this goal with VELOCITY.
Velocity refers to the pressure and the speed
and the duration of a pressed key in electronic
key instruments. This can be used to influence
sounds, from very sensitive to powerful and
aggressive.
