This Week’s Learning o I can’t believe we have completed the second week of Language Arts- The story for this week is – A Royal Mystery by: Audrey Carangelo. school! Here are a few reminders- The first page of the student handbook needs to be signed by a parent and the child. It needs to be returned as soon as possible. Thank you. o Please sign the agendas daily that explain the homework. o Students can bring a healthy snack each day to be eaten at 9:30. Suggestions- crackers/peanut butter, fruit, yogurt, cheese,etc. Math The teacher read-aloud book for this quarter is Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by: Grace Lin. The objectives of the week are: Spalding phonograms 1-20 Spelling words will be reviewed for this week. Declarative and Interrogative Sentences, Imperative and Exclamatory Sentences, Kinds of Sentences, Irregular Verbs. o Science- Scientific classification of animals. This week- 7 classification groups- Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. o Math Facts- Students need to review all of the math facts as often as possible. Practice tests should be given for 2 ½ minutes. Look on our class website! Lawless Math-Finding unknown numbers, order of operations, problem-solving, fractional parts. Percy Math-Sequences and Scales; Cumulative Test; Frequency Tables, Histograms, Surveys; Problems About Combining and Separating; Place Value Through Trillions, Multistep Problems; Problems About Comparing, Elapsed-Time Problems. Benton Math-Sequences and scales, practice test cumulative test for lessons 1-10, identifying and using a pattern, writing an equation to describe a rule, communicate ideas through writing, frequency tables, histograms, surveys, problems about combining and separating. Tuesday: Choose five words and write the definition and part of speech (verb, noun, etc.) Wednesday: Choose five words, write a sentence for each word with nine words per sentence. Be creative, start each sentence with a different word. They should be questions, statements, and commands/exclamations.
