The Comet Fare Information Section
Customers can purchase All-day, 5-day, 7-day and 31-Day passes at the
Customer Service desk of the North Main Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
Piggly Wiggly accepts cash, checks, debit, credit cards and Greenbax as
method of payment.
Fares:
Regular Fare $1.50
Half Fare $ 0.75
All-Day Fare $3.00 – Half All-Day Fare $1.50
5-Day Fare $12.00 – Half 5-Day Fare $6.00
7-Day Fare $14.00 – Half 7-Day Fare $7.00
31-Day Fare $40.00 – Half 31-Day Fare $ 20.00
The Comet does not issue transfers.
All fares can be purchased at the farebox except a 31-Day fare card, which
is available at the transfer center.
The 31-Day fare-card is your best value. Please tell your bus driver what
type of fare media you would like before purchasing your fare.
Fare and Half Fare:
Children 39 inches and smaller ride The Comet for free.
For half fare, seniors 65 years of age and older must show a state-issued ID.
Persons with disabilities must show a The COMET issued specials needs
card. For special needs application call 803-255-7133.
Individuals bearing a valid Medicare card are eligible for half fare.
All transit vehicles are ADA accessible
Half Fare Program:
The COMET now has a program for half price media. Anyone may purchase
half fare cards but passengers must have a The Comet issued ID card to
use them.
ID’s are issued by appointment at the Lowell C. Spires Jr. Regional Transit
Facility, located at 3613 Lucius Road, Suite 6. Persons meeting the following
criteria may get a The COMET ID
Types of Identification Required for ID:
Youth – State-issued ID or birth certificate with parent’s State-issued ID or
guardianship papers and guardian’s State-issued ID. Children taller than 39
inches but 15 and younger ride for free with The COMET ID. 16 and 17 year
old passengers ride half fare with The COMET ID.
Persons with Disabilities - The COMET issued special needs card and Stateissued ID.
Medicare – Medicare card and State – issued ID.
Seniors 65 years of age and older – State-issued ID.
Veterans – Military ID card or DD-214 with State-issued ID.
The Comet is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen passes.
Services – No service on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Other
holidays are subject to change.
