Council of the Township of King are now accepting nominations for awards to recognize
volunteer contributions and aàhievements in the following categories:
•
Citizen of the Year
•
Special Recognition
•
Lifetime Achievement
•
Senior Citizen Award of Merit
•
Youth Award of Merit
Nominations for Volunteer Awards must be submitted on the nomination form obtained
from the Clerks Department and will be received by the undersigned until 4:30 p.m.

2017. The nomination form and further information regarding the
criteria for each category is available at the Township office or on the Township website at
www.kinq.ca, under the “What’s New” tab.
Awards will be presented at the Volunteer Appreciation Night on Thursday, April
2017.

CRITERIA

Citizen of the Year Award
An award given to a citizen of the Township of King to recognize and honour outstanding
contributions to the Township of King.
Criteria:
•
•
•
•

•
•
must be a resident of the Township for at least 5 years
cannot be an elected official or a member of full-time staff as of the
nomination deadline date
demonstrates a concern for all round development for the community
presents a positive image of the Township
participates regularly in community projects
evidence of on-going leadership and dedication
broader significance of the nominee’s contribution, such as the impact on an
organization and/or the community
Special Recognition Award
An award given to one or more citizens or an organization for a special contribution made
to the community in whole or in part.
Criteria:
•

majority of membership must be resident(s) of the Township
enhance the public image of the Township of King
Lifetime Achievement Award
An award to recognize outstanding citizenship within the community, with many years of
dedicated service and devotion to the residents of the Township of King.
Criteria:
•
must have been a resident of the Township of King for at least 5 years

Senior Citizen Award of Merit
An award given to a Senior Citizen of the Township of King to recognize and honour
special contributions to the Senior population of the Township of King.
Criteria:

must be a resident of the Township of King
must be 55 years of age or older as of December 31 of the year of the Award
cannot be an elected official or a member of full-time staff as of the
nomination deadline date
presents a positive public image of the Township
demonstrates leadership and dedication towards Seniors and their various
programs
participates regularly in community projects associated with Seniors
Youth Award of Merit
An award given to a younger citizen of the Township to recognize special contributions to
the Township of King.
Criteria:

must be a resident of the Township of King
must be 21 years of age or younger as of December 31 of the year of the
Award
demonstrates leadership and dedication towards the community in which
he/she lives
participates as a volunteer regularly in community projects
