ESSAY POSSIBILITIES
1. Describe the impact of the Spanish settlers on the native population of the Americas.
2. Explain how the Columbian Exchange significantly affected world cultures.
3. If you do this one you have potential for 3 extra credit points:
The Age of Exploration is considered one of the 62 Turning Points in History. A turning point is a
point in which decisive change takes place. With the idea that Hindsight is always 20/20, write a
five-paragraph essay with you as the King of Spain. You have directed that all land claims and settlement would be done with negotiation. That war would be used as a last resort. A soldier could
only fight back if they were threatened. This one policy would change history, because the Aztecs
and Incas were never conquered by Spain. Describe the new world and Spain’s place in the world. If
these two things never happened, how would history have been different?
