GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE
PBS stations for sale? You may
see news reports about PBS stations
being sold. As part of the “Spectrum
Auction” being held by the FCC, some
PBS license holders will take the
opportunity to sell their stations and
stop broadcasting. Other PBS stations
are being forced to change frequency,
at a substantial cost. Not us! None of
WyomingPBS’s full power transmitters
were affected by the recent auction.
The unprecedented snowfall
throughout the state has taken its toll
on our transmitters. We have been
fighting outages from one end of Wyoming to the other. Sometimes,
it’s our equipment and sometimes it’s widespread power failures. In all
cases, our team of engineers is doing everything they can to restore our
service to you. Our Snow-Cat has seen heavy use this winter!
I’m sad to report WyomingPBS Foundation Executive Director Lee
Haines has resigned to return to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.
I’ve been privileged to work with Lee since my arrival, and he will be
extremely difficult to replace. However, if you know of someone who is
up to the task of leading our Foundation, please direct them to the job
posting at wyomingpbs.org/jobs.
I’m proud to announce that Antiques Roadshow is coming to
Wyoming! The Roadshow will be in Gillette on August 19! In next
month’s guide, we’ll have details on how to apply for tickets and how to
volunteer to be a Roadshow Roadie!
Finally, please use our March Membership Festival to renew your
WyomingPBS membership or even to make an additional gift. The
March drive is our largest opportunity to raise the funds we need to
keep telling Wyoming’s stories. We have a mix of new programs and
old favorites for you to enjoy!
Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of our WyomingPBS
family.
