Reed Canarygrass

Reed Canarygrass
Reed canarygrass is a tall, coarse, vigorous, long-lived
perennial. It is one of the earliest grasses to begin growth in
the spring, and produces large yields of nutritious forage.
Reed canarygrass can be used for pasture, hay or silage.
Low-alkaloid reed canarygrass offers potential for improved
animal performance.

Chiefton Reed Canarygrass
Chiefton Reed Canarygrass is a vigorous, productive, long-lived perennial grass
adapted over a wide range of climatic and geographic regions. It is adapted
to soils too wet for bromegrass, fescue and orchardgrass, and can withstand
continuous flooding for up to 60 or 70 days once established. It is best to harvest
for hay one to two times before grazing.
• High performing grass for hay, pasture, rotational grazing or filter strips
• Suitable for aggressive cutting schedules and intensive grazing
• Higher nutrient values than brome, orchardgrass or timothy
• Very cold-tolerant
• Low, wet areas are best seeded in the fall to avoid competition from weeds
• Winter hardy, very persistent
