Eden Prairie Community Center Open Skate, Adult Open Skate, Tot Open Skate, Youth Open Hockey and Adult Open Hockey Policies EPCC OPEN SKATING: Open Skate is available to participants of all ages Participants must pay before taking the ice Participants are required to adhere to all open skate policies and procedures Participants may not take ice until resurfacer is off the ice and the doors are shut Food and beverages are not allowed on the ice “Skate helpers” are available upon request, but may only be used by young skaters who are not able to skate unassisted. Participants may not sit on the boards or in the player/penalty boxes Activities such as Tag, keep away, chase games, weaving through skaters and speed skating are not allowed. Skaters may not throw hockey gloves, hats, mittens, etc… Skate Aides are designated for tot or beginner skaters only Participants must wear skates when on the ice. (street shoes not allowed). Participants should skate in one direction and be aware of small children Figure skating routines/lessons and ice dance routines are not allowed during open skate. Hockey drills or the use of sticks and pucks are not allowed during open skate. Skaters may not use personal CD/MP3 music during open skate Skaters that do not adhere to Open Skate rules, may be asked to leave the rink. EPCC TOT SKATING: A special designated open skate session is a perfect place to start working on your skating skills. This area is set aside for youth skaters who have never been on the ice before and want to practice in an unstructured setting. Tot skate is on designated Saturday afternoons throughout the year Participants must pay before taking the ice Participants are required to adhere to all open skate policies and procedures Participants may not take ice until resurfacer is off the ice and the doors are shut Highly recommended for new skaters prior to participating in Skate lessons A helmet is required for all youth 12 and under “Skate helpers” are available upon request, but may only be used by young skaters only (tot or beginner) who are not able to skate unassisted. Participants may not sit on the boards or in the player/penalty boxes Skaters may not use personal CD/MP3 music during open skate Food and beverages are not allowed on the ice A staff person is available on the ice for assistance, but not for formal instruction Participants are invited to stay for the Family Open Skate ADULT OPEN SKATING: Skaters must pay before taking the ice. Skaters must wait until the ice resurfacer is off the ice before taking the ice. Figure skating/Ice dance routines are only allowed if there is adequate space on the ice (less than 6 skaters on ice max). Routines/Jumps must be practiced only in back rink corners. They must cease immediately, if there is a conflict with another customer. Ice skate blades above knee height are only permitted with staff approval, when attendance is low and a safe skating environment can be maintained. Skaters may not use personal CD/MP3 music during open skate. Please check schedules regularly, as they do change. There will be at least a one week notice for any changes to the schedule. ADULT OPEN HOCKEY: Players may be required to wear a visible sticker or submit a ticket, as proof of payment. A helmet is required for all players. Other protective gear, including mouth guards and a face mask are recommended. Slap shots are not allowed. Players may not take the ice until the ice resurfacer is off the ice and the gate is shut. Adult Hockey players must be at least 18 years of age, to participate
