GENERAL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT
All UCM students are required to pass a General Education
Assessment test. Teacher Education students must pass the
Entry Level General Knowledge and Skills Assessment
required by DESE for both their A.A.T. and for Admission to
Teacher Education (C-BASE for Teacher Summer 2013 or
earlier. Starting Fall 2013, it is the MoGEA).

SPECIAL PROGRAM NOTES
The major courses in this program, with the exception of ECEL
1310 or 1320, are designated as Professional Education Courses
for educator certification. Students must earn at least a “C” grade
and maintain at least a 3.00 GPA in all Professional Education
courses, and in the major.
Students will not be able to enroll in any EDSP course at UCM
until EDSP 2100 Education of the Exceptional Child (EDUC 285
Education of Exceptional Learners at MCC) is successfully
completed.

UCM DEGREE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM
Minimum hours: 120
Minimum of 30 hours upper level credit (courses numbered
3000 and above). Courses taken at MCC do not count
toward the upper-level requirement though they sometimes
may be articulated as upper level classes.
Minimum of 12 upper level credit hours in major
Minimum Cumulative GPA Requirement: 2.75
Minimum Major and Professional GPA Requirement: 3.00
Minor requirement: No
Modern language requirement: No
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR A DEGREE AT UCM
30 credit hours must be completed at UCM
20 upper level hours must be completed at UCM
15 credit hours in the major must be from UCM
9 upper level hours in the major must be completed at UCM
The last 12 credit hours must be earned from UCM
If pursuing a minor, a minimum of 9 hours in the minor must
be completed at UCM. There must also be at least one
upper level hour completed at UCM.
ADMISSION TO TEACHER EDUCATION
Students seeking an initial teaching certificate must gain
admission to Teacher Education. Specific requirements for Full
Admission to Teacher Education is available in the UCM
Undergraduate Catalog, and at:

Students finishing their A.A.T. should plan to complete their
Educator Profile DESE and their Fingerprinting/Background Check
by the time they start classes at UCM.
