CANON DR-2050C SCANNING BASICS Load documents into the Canon Scanner face down and printed side away from you. SCANNING A DOCUMENT 1. Start a new Word document 2. Select Insert, Picture, From Scanner or Camera 3. Choose Web or Print quality, depending on what you are scanning. Select Custom Insert. You will then be prompted with the following box. 4. Select your options. If you have a two sided document, select Duplex under Scanning Side. 5. click on Scan 6. this Scan Panel will appear 7. When finished scanning, click on the red Stop button. The document scanned will become an image within Word. 8. File, Save If you want to edit your text - see Using OCR to edit text directions. USING OCR TO EDIT TEXT Use this application to scan and convert into text. The converted text can be saved or sent to a word processing application. 1. Start Programs ScanSoft OmniPage Omnipage SE 2. The OmniPage SE program will open 3. Click on the AutoOCR button Make the next selections by clicking on the down arrow: (*to scan editable text into Word, select as the examples shows below) 1. Get Page How? 2. Perform OCR Describe Original 3. Export Results How? 4. Click Start *when scanning is finished being recognized, you will get a Save As box. Give your document a name. Click OK and it will automatically launch to Word for editing. You can scan additional pages into the current document. The Start button changes to Additional. SCANNING TO PDF 1. Open Adobe Acrobat 2. Click on the Create PDF button select From Scanner 3. Select from the settings below 4. Click Scan. The Scan Panel screen will open. Click the Green Start button. 5. When done scanning, click the Red Stop button. Click the X to Close 6. The Next Page box will appear, if you have more scanning , chose Next or if your are finished, click Done 7. File, Save SCANNING AN IMAGE 1. Open CapturePerfect 3.0 from Start Programs CapturePerfect. Or, select another imaging program. CapturePerfect software comes buddled with the Cannon scanner. 2. CapturePerfect will open. Choose Scanner Setting from Scan or click on the Scanner Setting button. 3. Choose your selections. If you are scanning a colored image, change the mode to Color. Click OK. 4. Click on the Scan Page button. 5. When scanning is complete, click on the X to close. 6. File, Save Page As, choose jpeg as the format.
