Car parking charges
The IOW Council have now introduced parking charges to
the Medina College/Leisure Centre/Theatre sites. If you
are visiting the college you will either need to pay and
display, or collect a visitors parking permit from
reception staff as this must be clearly visible on your car.
Visitor parking is only by the railings just outside
reception. If such a pass isn’t showing, or a visitor’s car
is parked in the wrong area, a parking fine notice will be
issued by IOW Council parking attendants. However,
cannot park in the visitor
bays from 3-3.45pm when the
buses will be picking up students.
parents/visitors
If visiting the college between this time, you will need to
pay the required parking fee.
SICKNESS SYMPTOMS
Due to the recent increase in the number of reported
cases of diarrhoea and vomiting on the Island, the
Isle of Wight NHS Trust is requesting that schools
remind parents that children should stay off school
for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have
stopped to avoid the spread of infection.
FASTTRACK FAMILY
CHALLENGE
Joshua Burrows won the
Fasttrack Family
Challenge for last term
and Katie Bache won for
the term. Each won £30
Cineworld voucher. Well
done to them.
When suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting it is
important to keep hydrated and drink plenty of fluids,
particularly for the very young and older people who
are most at risk. Remember to wash hands regularly
with soap and water (hand gels are not effective
against norovirus). If the symptoms persist,
telephone NHS 111. Further details of symptoms are
available on the NHS Choices website

DISNEYLAND PARIS—EASTER 2015
On a cold and breezy Monday morning at 6.00am, 77 year 9 and 10 students set off from Ryde on a
trip to Disneyland, Paris. Although it was early, and we had a whole day of travel before us, the
excitement was building already. After a coach/ferry/coach journey we arrived at the Disney
Dream Castle Hotel near the parks. It was amazing to look at, but we were eager to drop our bags
and head off to the Disney Village for food and go shop, shop, shopping!
Over the next two days we were out early and headed for the Disney parks. First stop was the Disney Studios Park with its amazing rides and even more shops—Minnie ears were purchased in
abundance!
Next day it was the Disneyland Adventure Park which was much bigger and had a greater variety of
attractions and rides. The day consisted of queuing, smiling, queuing again and even more smiling
when you got to the front of the ride. Everyone we saw was so excited and we were all really enjoying ourselves.
Later that evening we all gathered together to watch the fantastic “Dreams” firework display outside of the “Sleeping Beauty” castle—it was absolutely amazing! We had all made new friends and
had just laughed so much. Disneyland was an amazing experience and we really could not think of
better people to go with.
Thank you everyone for a truly “magical” time.

Medina
College
now has its own Medina Shakespeare Company which will be
performing “Much ado about Nothing”.
The company is open to all students from
any year group who would like to find out
that Shakespeare can be fun (as witnessed by our students who recently
performed The Tempest as part of the
Schools’ Shakespeare Festival).
We will be holding auditions in the Drama
Studio on Monday and Tuesday 5th and
6th January 2015 at lunchtime, so anyone
wishing to be part of this exciting new
venture, whether new to Shakespeare,
curious, or more hardened Shakespeare
lovers, are welcome to come along.
